Anyone know where I can purchase a rebuild kit for a 1987 XJ Dana 44 Trac-lok limited slip? I have 3.43 gears which means I have the smaller of the two ring gear carriers. The kit should have clutches and springs, maybe the little gear as well.
Thanks!
Hi All,
I've swapped a '87 Dana 44 into my '92 XJ 4 door 4x4 I6 auto transmission Jeep.
I want to purchase wheel cylinders for the 10" x 2.5" drum brakes on this D44 axle.
The wheel cylinders presently on this D44 axle have the brake tube fitting that screws into them somewhat from the...
Now, a decade passes and my outer, front door, window seals need replacing again. These are the horizontal rubber strips at window bottom on the outside on my '92 XJ 4 door with electric windows.
The links in the previous posts have died with the passage of time.
I purchased new strips...
I have a 1992 XJ 4.0 with auto trans. There is a electronic control module (ECM) in the engine bay on the driver's side just behind the radiator and next to the air box.
My ECM is working now but it is 32 years old. Someday it will die. When this happens, can a new ECM be purchased? How...
College? I remember those days but a while back for me.
Something I forgot to mention is that Cool Hose will fabricate the hose. This was not an option for me since I did not have a hose design and did not know exactly the fittings. I posted this same info at another jeep forum. This...
With regard to Varmint #1... unfortunately the oil used with original R-12 is not compatible with R-134a. So the old oil has to go. Internet says expansion valve and receiver-dryer simply MUST be replaced. This leaves hoses, compressor, and condenser for cleaning. Yes, parts can be cleaned...
"Bummer that hoses cannot be purchased anymore. I should probably start grabbing some of those from the JY in the future, just for the sake of the ends."
Hose ends are crimped and can't be removed from the rubber hose. My hoses were 32 years old. I put a new engine in recently and in the...

I agree, pressures are those expected at the pressure test port and not necessary the pressures in the cooling circuit.
The pressures mentioned can be seen in the operator's manual page 7,8 which gives the pressure measurement location as "test port". Link to manual is shown below.
"discharge...
Sorry, I reviewed my records from 2017 and can not find the receipt nor the P/N for the Bosch fuel pump. I would like to know this myself now since I want to replace the fuel pump soon. I guess you'll just have to hunt "Bosch". I recall I purchased a different type at substantially less cost...
300 PSI? I'm shocked. I noticed a 300 PSI rating on the transmission hose I purchased but thought nothing of it. 300 PSI? Really? I can't imagine how my hose clamps haven't popped off and I've run them for a long time. How do the radiators hold this pressure?
I can understand 300 PSI...
Hi All,
Thanks for replies! I see all agree that the line connected to the front (engine side) of the AW-4 transmission is the output for hot fluid and the rear port returns cooled fluid into the transmission. This connection is evident in the drawing.
I guess what is unclear is where the...
Hi All,
I have a 1992 XJ 4.0 Liter 4X4 with AW-4 auto trans. This vehicle has a transmission cooler. I would like to add a filter in the transmission cooler line. The filter has a preferred direction of flow. I need to know which way to install the filter.
AW-4 has two cooler line...
I have a 1992 XJ 4.0 4X4 with the AW-4 auto transmission. I have purchased a remanufactured AW-4 and intend to swap this remanufactured trans with the trans presently in the XJ. I am also removing the 4.0 motor.
Which is better... Remove the 4.0 motor and then remove the transmission... or...
Thanks for info! Yes 1992 has MAP in a bracket on firewall just aft of the cylinder head.
I am swapping factory sensors out since these have 400K and 30 years on them. Yes Amazon parts will likely not last another 30 years as the originals. I just view them as more reliable in the short...
