Sorry I didnt read through the whole discussion (couldnt understand all the grammar), but you did all the work yourself, nicely done. You gonna be able to fit a whole deer in that cargo area? I also would suggest the black wheels and MT's if its strictly a hunting vehicle.
Yep, 2 year old thread revival time. Been checkin on the detours rear tire carrier and havent heard anything for awhile. Anyone know if/when its going to be in production, or is it by special order only?
I ordered a set of tap extractors online so hopefully that works after i heat up the shaft a bit. If not, looks like ill probably have to get a new ouput shaft.
Its your u-joints. My 97 just did the exact same thing. Dedicate at least 2 hours per side if you havent had your hub or anything apart before. Get a 36 mm socket(most auto parts stores will rent for free), hammer and a flat chisel to get the hub off. The axle will just slide out after the...
Ive been looking at getting a new radiator for the reason that alot of my fins are bent and its been getting hotter than usual (around 210-215 but i plan on replacing my AC this summer). Ive heard alot about the GDI 3 core radiator, some good, some bad. Ive also heard some good things on the 2...
I thought i was going to have to but the girlfriend is going to let me use her car to get to work, although i did drive it to the hardware store earlier today and worked like a champ. The way i figure it, as long as the splines on the RE part stays tight on the splines from the output shaft, it...
It broke for a reason....because it was too tight of a fit. There is no way a set of needle nose pliers will work. I think what happened is that i "hacked", drilled and started to tap the hole when the tailshaft was still hot. After taking my time tapping the hole, it started to cool down and...
I am in the process of doing a hack and tap on my xj and while i was tapping(threading) the hole, the tap snapped in half and broke off inside the hole. Im am at a loss of ideas on what to do. There is no way in hell i am getting the broken off piece out of there...its way to tight. Any ideas????
Well, after beating the shit out of my xj the last 2 weekends, something had to break. Went to work today and there was a binding/clicking noise coming from the front driver side wheel. Got home and lifted her up and spun the wheels/turned the wheel and pretty sure it was the u-joint binding...
If you guys havent figured it out already, you dont really use all 20 of those gallons in your tank. Its probably more like 18 or 19 if you dont run out of gas trying to figure it out. And the speedo gear is the only right way to figure it out if you have bigger tires, unless your just...
