hi all so at 450,000km i decided to do the rear main seal 4.0l and while there do the timing chain harmonic balancer and seal. all went well but____ i forgot to put the oil slinger back, dam. that's the disc between the lower timing gear on the crankshaft and the balance seal. im not...

    What axles do I want?

with 31 inch tyres 4.10 gears would be the best value for money add on in my view/ and experience. i went the 8.25 route only because my D35 was leaking and sounded like a junk yard dog

Ok so ive been putting this off for 20 years

i have a '94 XJ limited with 4.0l and the dreaded rear main seal leak. i had a look at fixing it about 20 years ago and chickened out, but now its at a point it can't be ignored, unfortunately im also 20 years older. my question is, as the vehicle now has high miles and the crank is probably...

    im stumped

yea, FIXED woo hoo it was the MAP sensor. this old girl aint ready to die yet so happy, and upside is all the extra stuff i did is making it run beautifully so filled the tank with fuel and interested to see if there are any economy improvements. you have no idea how relieved i am.

    how's this

my xj cherokee is a july built 1994, chasing another fault i thought i would check the fuel pressure, so an OBD1 fuel rail has the pressure regulator at the front end. from memory it should be 31psi at idle and 41 when running. so i connected the gauge let the pump prime, ign on motor not...

man that would be the FIRST thing wouldn't it?? then the front prop shaft to get at the two lower rear most bolts. basics

    Bird Box Challenge

i screw the lower bolts in a couple of threads and then wiggle the manifold into place. once the gasket is in place and the outer extractor bolts are in place is fairly easy, its the tightening go those two lower rear bolts that's the killer, especially with after market extractors i hurt for...

    im stumped

ok this is doing my head in, i got the bosch 4 hole injectors and they work beautifully, as has been quoted, smoother idle slightly healthier acceleration, and maybe marginally better economy, that's when i don't use the healthier acceleration heheh. however the problem is still NOT fixed, so...

    im stumped

thanks, I've done a bit more of an assessment now and wonder what you make of this, I'm feeling confident that it is the injectors. i thought at first it might have been heat soak, as it would be ok when cold, and only play up after sitting for a while after driving, once running it stays ok...

    im stumped

that's an interesting idea, I've been thinking go an injector, especially was they are original and have done 440,000 kilometres, ill try injector cleaner first, and see what happens. i may need to think of doing an injector upgrade as preventative maintainance.

    im stumped

definitely not a/c, its as if the ignition was being rapidly turned off, on,off,on. ive even noticed on a slight down hill run foot off the gas that the tacho would oscillate up and down about 500 rpm.

    im stumped

94 xj limited, OBD1 it has an off idle hesitation, once warmed up its ok, then if i let it sit, its bach again with this it does this thing where its like raves up 500rpm and then drops, revs up again, if i let it idle its ok, if i rev it over 2000 rpm its ok, once its running its generally...

    sort of technical question

oh it gets better. question, what do you do when you have a worn and noisy front drive shaft CV. answer, well stupid, you move the inner collar to a new position and WELD it to the shaft, that way the balls have a new running surface, huh now wasn't that easy, didn't cost a cent.

    sort of technical question

all good guys sorted it, some half wit decided it was a good idea to strip the thread on the rh front calliper, mounting bolt, and then tried to glue it in, no I'm not joking. cleaned out the thread, with a tap and die, found a new bolt and noise gone, i suppose at least they fitted new pads...

    sort of technical question

hi all, I've had an XJ limited for 20 years and so can comfortably say know i know 90's jeeps. ( the XJ is a 1994 with 4370000km) so i got lucky and came across a 1999 ZJ grand cherokee limited, 375000 km on it and unregistered, just expired, excellent body work stock as a rock good tyres and...
