There are two types of disconnects, ones with metal clips inside the female part, and ones with a plastic clip that sticks out.
The plastic ones are of a 'pinch and pull' design, where you pinch the two ears of the clip, then pull the line out.
The metal ones require the tool mentioned above.
The purpose of the taper is to reduce noise at part throttle cruise. Several other manufacturers do this as well.
The venturi effect only takes place right at the restriction, where the air flow increases. For example, it would not do anything to effect the MAP vacuum signal on a pre OBD II...
That is usually caused by a lean condition.
The IAC will have no effect on this, as the throttle is open, and the engine is getting the majority of its airflow by the throttle blade.
