update: reset the codes with my neighbor's obdII tool. Ran the piss out if it and rechecked the codes - all are gone! Suspect the 0194 vaccuum leak triggered the 0303 cylinder code,as it was at the same locatoin at the #3 cylinder. Tore the the dash apart to check the CEL bulb - it was there...

Turns out it was not the CPS after all. In doing some extra trouble shooting after the CPS tested ok, my mechanic friend found a frayed wire going to the fuel pump. He replaced the wire, and bingo, :sunshine:I'm back in business. Thanks to all for your input. Even the mech thought CPS...

ok - two quick cps confirmations lead me to the garage - I went out and started it up - no problem. Cut it off, then wiggled the cps sensor wire, got nothing - just cranks and cranks...Gonna remove the cps and check the wire(s)... thanks

On the way home tonite my XJ (2000, 158k on the clock) just randomly cut off (no fuel - still had electrical) at 70mph on the interstate. I pulled over, shut it down, and tried to crank - plenty of electric, no fuel. Can't hear fuel pump, but never could before either. Let it sit for 2-3...

cheater pipe/breaker over the wrench. Even with the cheater pipe, its a pain in the arse...It will move though. I just did my '00. If I can do it (and I'm a scrawny lad), anyone can.

In my 2000 the cig lighter is 12v switched/accessory, the power outlet is 12v constant. Other than that, I think they are the "basically" the same.

Hell, if I don't know the difference between a pint and a quart, how would I know the difference between the top and the bottom of the fill hole??:roll:

I'm an idiot... Apparently I can't read my manual any more - It is 2.85 pint capacity, not quarts, which I tought it was (It converts to 1.43 quarts - pretty darn close to what I put in). It helps to pay attention when readin' those manuals...:sure: Thanks to all for the replies. I'm good to...

I am in the process of replacing all the fluids in my new 2000 XJ. I checked my transfer case (242), the fluid level was fine, but dirty. I drained it, and could only get 1.5 qts of ATF in the case before it started running out the fill hole?? Manual says capacity is a little over 2.5 qts...

Thanks for the input guys - I continued working with it (engaging/disengaging the part time 4wd, full time 4wd and 4low). It is working like it should. The right axle locks up now when I lift it off the ground and engage 4wd...(either side) Also had a mechanic I trust look at it - he said it...

Thanks for the input on the front drive shaft. As to the left side spinning freely in 2wd and 4wd - No, it was not in neutral, and only one wheel was off the ground... Just cant understand why the left would lock up, while the right wont??
