I did this mod this past weekend using a 136Amp 98 Grand Cherokee 5.2L Alternator in my 92 XJ 4.0L.
For those who wanted to know the amount to trim off the stock bracket here are some pictures for you.
Bolt holes dont quite line up.
This is why they dont line up. Its a snug fit.
Here is...
Get long arms if you are going to a 4.5" lift. It gives you options down to road to upgrade for the price of springs. Another benefit is it will ride better than short arms and flex way more. Another down side of 4.5" is you might need longer brake lines. Some get away with bending up the...
My flare rubbed through the paint so i had to paint to begin with so I didnt mind that my paint chipped during the folding process. I would assume yours will too. I fixed it with an orbital sander and some flat black paint.
Final Product
FULL SIDE SHOT 4.5" lift with 33x12.5
Yea I know you needed the flywheel to start it but I am a bone head and forgot about the starter mounting to the tranny .
To achieve what I was asking you could remove the torque converter but bolt the fly and starter up. Then that would eliminate the tranny from the equation.
My 92 4.0L has had the exact symptoms for almost a year now. Its my DD so I havent pulled the flywheel or aw4 since it drives fine like you stated. I have also inspected and tightened the flex plate like you to no avail. In the last few months I have replaced most of the sensors due to another...

It is roughly 12"x12" and has the plate and fin style they were talking about earlier.
There is a build on pirate4x4 by YJ and Corey where he has a stroked and turboed 4.0L running 263.7 RWHP & 353.2 ft/lbs of RWT. Thats on a lifted YJ with 40" LTB's.
So I think you will be fine. Its a good 'long' read...
If you still need a cut and fold right up here you go:
1) This is optional but recommended for sanity. Remove the tire for ease of access.
2) I cut lip off bottom of fender so it would lay flat once it is pounded flat. A circular cut off wheel will be easier then a sawzall. (see pic 1) If you...
The go-fer-its are for the stock ball joints only. The Currie, RR, TNT & DIY with chevy parts all use way bigger ball joints. Thus why they are 1/2 ton upgrades.
