Trying to replace the RMS today but cannot get the baring cap to come loose. Any pointers on the best way to get this off? With the way my luck has been recently, I am a little leary of messing something up. Thanks!
Decided to crack open the D44 this morning to change the gear oil and noticed that my crosspin retaing bolt is gone and there are a couple of small pieces missing from the pinion gear. Can a retaining bolt be bought or was it just a roll pin in the first place? This 44 is out of an 88 XJ. Thanks!
I have searched and read eveyone elses problems regarding this but haven't had any luck. One day started up the jeep and no gauges. Its a 96 4.0 with a 5 speed. I pulled and checked all of the fuses under the driver side dash and they were all good. Thanks!
Just got the new radiator for my 96 4.0 with a AX-15. The oil cooler lines on the the new radiator look like they are pressed in. The bottom one looks like it takes a hose and the upper one looks to be a 1/2" threaded nipple. Whats the best way to get these out?
I noticed today I had no backup lights as well as no third brake light. The other brake lights work as well as everything in the tail light housing. I looked at all of my fuses and they are all good as far as I can tell. Is there something else I need to check? Its a 96 4.0 with a 5 speed...
First off, my problem is on a 96 XJ 4.0 5 speed. Yesterday started the problem. I was driving back to the house and when I went to push in the clutch it wouldn't go in all the way. It met some resistance. It felt tlike ther was something preventing the pedal from going down. I pulled out...
This question is for those of you with rear disc brakes. I converted my Dana 44 ove to discs using parts of a GC Dana 35. I have had a problem with them leaking oil at the seals. I replaced one side a while ago and the leaking has stopped. I replaced the other a few days ago and continues to...
Recently when trying to start the XJ, it was taking a little longer than normal to crank, I thought it was just the cold spell we were having. It got worse and worse until I though it wasn't going to turn over at all. I had a spare starter and replaced that but didn't fix the problem. The...
If I did get water in my relay center, Do i just pull eveything out of it, dry it out with a hair dryer or something, and then plug everything back in?
What years did they put the MAP sensors on the throttle body? I was reading in one of the Hanes manuals that some yeras were located there but I thought they were all located on the firewall. Also I pulled a 04330 code of the Jeep today. Can anyone enlighten me?
Has anyone had a problem with getting their throttle body wet. Reason being my check engine light just came on and gave me codes dealing with the map sensor and the cruise control. Can't think of a reason why both at the same time. It was raining a lot down here recently?
Recently I noticed a decent amount of gear oil on my transfer case. I think I located the source as being on the passenger side of the tranny coming out of the back-up sensor. Is there an o-ring under that gets worn? Haven't had the time to pull it yet.
Last night I was driving home and the battery light came on. I pulled over popped the hood and wiggled the cables to see if anything was loose. Well I started it back up and it acted like it wanted to die but then when back to idleing. It did the same this this morning. Starts up but...
Very stupid question here. I saw a dome light with two map lights on it in the boneyard and grabbed it to put in my 96 XJ. It came from a 2000 or 2001 XJ. Question is do the map lights face the rear or the front. I am going to have to cut the headliner and don't want to cut the wrong side.
I was reading a post the other day about how the newer XJs have a heat shield over the muffler and cat to help with the heat. Has anyone used this material to make a heat shield for their intake?
Went to the boneyard yesterday to pick up a few parts. Was going for the wiring harness that lights the vanity mirrors. Well it was attached to a much bigger harness that was connected to a rectangular box on the headliner between the visors. What is this part? Is it the computer for the...
Trying to get this done today. My problem is that the bearing housing will not seperate from the tail shaft. It will spin but will not come off so I can get to the pump. This is on a 96 with a 231 T.C. Thanks in advance.
