Worked on an 88 xj today with all of 40k miles on it. Paint was pretty rough but super clean body and inside was prestine. Still had amc plug wires on it. Apparently it sat at a condo in telluride that only got used when people were there and the guy picked it up for dirt cheap. It was pretty cool.
Ugh I can't edit. They have actively fight these land closure issues and are trying to raise some money for legal fees. I met them once clearing grizzly lake. Pretty good guys to deal with.
For those that know, the gulches near divide have been under fire lately. These guys have been working hard to help, got a good little fundraiser going. He also writes the land use column in crawl.

The ice cleats are cool and pretty aggressive but not totally necessary. I usually just chain up the front but have done all 4 when hunting before. They would be pretty miserable on anything hard pack. But they'll get you through some stuff for sure. Keep the spped down and don't spin the crap...
That sucks. I had the EXACT same thing happen to me and another xj we had. It was not an enjoyable experience. At least you were ok though! I was sore for a few months.
I actually took the jeep wheeling the other weekend. Quick trial run up eagle rock. Did good other than need to finish steering assist which I was gonna do......but I bought a dirt bike instead so doing that too. It was pretty point and shoot up there tho. Barely spun a tire on anything. So...

Not sure what ori uses but the original fox lines on my coilovers are nylon with a braided steel cover. Both of mine had been crushed or something so I made new ones with real hoses and fittings from kartek when I rebuilt them. They are pretty stout now.
Yeah that's about where I'm at. I still gotta get tires and and finish my steering. Had to order a different pitman arm so hopefully I can get some more steering angle now. Then I can figure out the ram. Then maybe I can find out what it can do.
Hell yes it is!! I've been watching some guys who ran that recently. I suspect you may have been in their group. But looks like a hell of a trail. Sometimes those horrible trail days are really great trail days. Haha
The bearing splitter works fine but it will usually destroy the bearing. Gets em off tho. Use one at work a d at home. You need an expensive one like the Yukon tool really to pull them off pretty intact.
