Wintermark snow tire q's & request for observations on other AT tires.

Well, thanks for the help guys, but now it's all in vain. On way to work today a 20 year old kid failed to yield in his mommy's accord and my XJ ate it for breakfast, but in doing so my XJ choked, blew it's airbags in my face as my 6'6'' body went shin first into the dash. I came out with a...

Wintermark snow tire q's & request for observations on other AT tires.

Hello all, Long time since I have been here, but this is still the BEST place around for XJ info, and therefore I wanted to ask a few questions. It's tire time again and as always I find myself wanting something different than I have used already, and in this case I have to change...

    Rear brake questions!

Anyone know how much (I assume more) stopping ability the 10 inchers have over the 9 inchers. I figure the bigger the diameter the better, but it appears that the 9 inchers are wider...anyway, anyone have any numbers? I figure it's probably minimal with the width difference....Rusty

    Rear brake questions!

Well, popped a wheel off yesterday....Sure enough 9 inchers on the 8.25 I hope to take care of the job on Sunday afternoon. Thanks for the help guys....Rusty

    Rear brake questions!

Thanks for the link! I printed that off for the job I will be doing on this one soon. Is there any consistancy as to which size drum that the 8.25 rear has or if the towing package matters or year matters? Or for what it's worth, on the D35 either? I "guessed" that I have the 10" versus 9"...

    Rear brake questions!

I think I need to replace my rear brake shoes. I know they were getting very worn back at the beginning of the year when I installed my No-slip locker. I have the 8.25 rear and the towing package on a 99 XJ. I assume it has the 10" drums versus the 9" drums right? Any tips on the...

Tach and speedo on a 98 xj intermittent

Well, I am getting the same problem now. How many conductors are in this connector? Just 2 or several more? Wanna make sure that I find the right connector the very first time in there.....Thanks...Rusty

No-slip install questions for 8.25, general pumpkin sealing, gear lube, etc

Well the No-Slip finally arrived and I installed it just a couple of days ago. Everything except for removing the center pin retaining bolt went smoothly. It was a major PITA to get it out! I think it was an 8mm or 5/16th...at any rate it eventually rounded off and I had to go buy a part from...

No-slip install questions for 8.25, general pumpkin sealing, gear lube, etc

Well the No-slip has been coming to me by UPS ground now since the 19th from Rocky-Road in Utah on it's journey to TN, however the blizzard that Colorado had has delayed things a WHOLE LOT in addition to the holiday rush and holiday off time too. Nonetheless, as soon as it arrives I want to get...

Thanks Rich..I haven't heard from you in years! Good to hear that you are still on the list. Your observations are always a wealth of information...Rusty

Finally, time for a locker. Jury still out on the No-Slip?

One more question....How does this locker react when coming down a steep slick hill (on snow or whatever) and you are letting engine braking hold you back? Thanks...Rusty

Finally, time for a locker. Jury still out on the No-Slip?

Thanks for the comments guys! You all confirmed what I had hoped to hear. I hope I can purchase one before Christmas and make the XJ even more capable. I have been putting this off long enough. Thanks for the suggestion on Rocky-Road. I dealt with them several years back and that is who I...

Finally, time for a locker. Jury still out on the No-Slip?

Well, after things finally settling down now from when I joined the forum (2 new houses, 1 wedding, and 2 babies), it is finally approaching time to do some worthwhile mods to the 99 with the 8.25 rear. I have not been in the 4x4 circle for a while now, but the last time I did much research...

    Oil pressure sending unit replacement?

No one had it in stock that I could find. Best price was at O'Reily's for $26.99. Not too bad...Dealer was nearly $70...Everyone else was atleast $39. Easy install ince I figured out the connector clip....Rusty

?? XJ Towing maximum trailer loads??

Had to haul some gravel to my home for an additional parking area. I knew my single axle trailer would haul about 3500 lbs roughly. I wanted to haul less than that, but when they put the gravel on the trailer it ended up being more than wanted...1500 lbs more in fact! Sure was glad I aired...

    Oil pressure sending unit replacement?

Thanks guys!! What confused me was the use of wire versus wires going to it. I was looking at the right thing the whole time and verified it with a pic off of either Autozone's or Advance's website. That connector still looks a bit complicated, but I think I can manage it now and $30 from...

    Oil pressure sending unit replacement?

Let me clear this up a bit. What I see above the oil filter of my 99 looks like it has 3 wires running out of it. I hope I am not looking at the wrong thing since 1 of you mentioned on 1 wire and it being gray......Rusty

    Oil pressure sending unit replacement?

Well, both Advance Auto and Autozone don't stock this item around here. Gonna have to check some of the mom and pop stores. Took a look at the sensor and as you all know it has a connector that I am not familiar with nor can I get my big head close enough to get a really good look at it. I...

    Oil pressure sending unit replacement?

How hard is an oil pressure sending unit/sensor to replace on a 99 4.0L w/ auto. Just searched and saw where I need to do some troubleshooting 1st but the needle pegged out in startup just a few mins ago and it will not go off of 80 PSI unless I turn the engine off. Didn't look typical when it...

    Trailmark MS tire opinons?

Think I will go another route then. Sure "looks" like a good tire though. Too bad they have safety problems. Can't take a chance on stuff like that!!!
