    header probs

Smack it slighty for clearance, or shave the manifold down a hair. Both of these wont be a problem unless you really go hog wild. The Banks header I have on my 91 fits with a slight shave of the 99 manifold. Been running it like this for years no problems.

    gearing down...

Can you go lower? I LOVE 5.13s and 35s for city driving and highway isnt bad, 3k RPM at 70mph. The RPMs keep me inside the legal speed limit :D As for offroad with lower gearing, its a non issue unless your doing some serious mudding or hitting the sand dunes. I wouldnt give up my 5.44...

Welding my 8.8, do I need to pull the bearings?

Your not going to hurt the bearings by welding the tubes to the housing. I have done it on 4 or 5 Ford 8.8s and have never pulled the carrier and never had an issue with the bearings for thousands of miles afterward. AARON

    4.10 options

Throw in a used gear set with new bearings and you will be fine. I have run used gears before and had no reliability issues. One set I installed was in spec but the "new" pattern didnt match the original. Had some noise. Took a few thousands out, matched the original pattern, still in spec...

    Broken TNT Track Bar bolt

My RE bar is around 6 years old and been on 2 different trucks. Never broke or had a problem with it so I kept reusing it with new hardware on each move. The bolt is a 3/8" grade 8. Its what fits through the small RE flex joints unless they upsized the bolts in thoes in the last few years...

    Broken TNT Track Bar bolt

I have a RE HD track bar and bracket and the same thing happened to me this morning. It was a grade 8 bolt from Home Depot which lasted for 3 years and lots of abuse. The TNT bar looks very similar to the RE bar with the flex joint. Has anybody tried to drill this out to 7/16" or 1/2"? AARON

    89 xj stroker swap

Its called the cam position sensor. I dont have my FSM on me so I cant tell ya how to test it. Who did you buy the stroker from? Did they install the timing gears/chain correctly? AARON

Got a flat, need to know something

If you have an open diff then you will be fine. Any type of LSD, locker, or spool and the axle wont be happy. AARON

    Fuel Injectors

Another option on the adjustible MAP sensor is installing an Apexi SAFC. Sure its a ricer part but it allows you to tune the fuel curve through the MAP at specified RPM increments. I had a write up on here and also over on JU speedfreaks showing one installed on a 91 XJ. I have a stroker...

    Fuel Injectors

The Ford #24 injectors will work. You will run into problems with running rich if you just slap them on. Look at getting an adjustable MAP sensor to try and tune it down or start upgrading internals like a cam or stroke it to move more air through the motor. AARON

35" tires + stock steering OK or NO GO?

Best bang for the buck is the Currie steering. I have installed it on more Jeeps than I can count and never had any major issues with the install or them coming back broken. The other upgrade I would consider is swapping the axle out for something bigger and has true high steer :) AARON

HP D44 narrowed or different rim backspacing?

If you want big tires 36+ and have a heavy right foot the 44 wont last. Might as well polish the D30. I build a HP D44, narrowed to Waggy width, cromo shafts, ARB, Hi steer, etc and wish I had gone and installed a stock Dana 60 or saved my lunch money and raped the couch for a 609. To answer...

    $.5- 5 inch lift

If you have the money do the long arms. I had long arms at 4.5" of lift back when I had my XJ and it was NICE! RE coils and Bilstein 5100s made it ride nice, so nice in fact that I ordered taller springs and shocks for my MJ. I didnt think the RE leafs where that stiff, they rode a little...

What do think?? XJ rear 4 link to an MJ rear

Build your own if you can. For the price its not worth it to modify it to suit your needs. There are a number of threads on linking the rear of a MJ, just gotta search. AARON

Turning XJ into street rod - need gear and exhaust suggestions

I would also check out SpinTech mufflers. I have a sportsman series on my Jeep and its wicked mean sounding. I always get asked what motor is under the hood after they hear it... But then again the stroker motor helps the exhaust note just a little bit :D AARON

    Converter missing, any issues?

This is the paperwork from the last time my vehicle was required to go through the actual emissions test. Now its just a visual inspection. I pulled this out of another thread when somebody like you said my motor is at the upper limits and stinks  As for emissions requirements and...

    Converter missing, any issues?

Running with out the cat will not hurt the motor or polute the environment any more than any other car out on the road. I have run with no cat for 5 years now with both the factory 4.0L and also a 4.6L stroker motor AND I pass the emissions test. Anybody who says you polute more by not having...

    MSD Conversions/Blaster/Nology Coil Conversion Q's

The mileage and throttle responce I got from going to the MSD 6AL box was noticable. I let my dad borrow the Jeep for a weekend after installing the MSD box and he noticed a difference. I run it through a stock coil since I didnt have the cash to spring for an aftermarket coil (got the MSD...

    9" rearend

Not True. I have had several 9" big bearing housings and none of them had the right pattern for the Ford Explorer/8.8 disk brakes. Maybe you just got lucky, but not all big bearing ends fit the newer style disks. I got new bearing cups from Strange that use the big bearing and have the right...

    who makes these headers (pics)

Couldnt tell ya who makes that header but for muffler recomendations I would get a Spintech. I have a Banks header (first one cracked, and I welded the second one after it cracked) with a custom bent 2.5" downpipe into a hollow'd out cat into a spintech sportsman series muffler and 2.5" tube...
