Re: better clutch hydraukics well in the first post I wrote 95 XJ - soooooo - that would be the year. Couldn't be an automatic trans - if I'm working on the clutch. And 95s only came with one manual trans. Already got my info from another forum. I think I'm dropping this forum - too many smart...

fast idle getting wrse 1995 Sport

Problem solved - wasn't a leak after all. I did a bubble check - replaced several hoses and nothing changed - and all bolts were tight. Anyway I remembered something in the instructions when I replaced my IAC last spring. The measurement from the mounting base and the end shouldn't be more than...

fast idle getting wrse 1995 Sport

thanks for the ideas - I have checked the hoses - and even clamps on the vac assist for the brakes. The idle doesn't go down with the vac hose plugged. But it does drop a little with the CCV hose plugged. I think what I have here is a lot of leaks and I think at this point I will start replacing...

fast idle getting wrse 1995 Sport

No advise - Hmmm. With all the fast idle problems jeeps have I would think someone would have an idea - The more new items the higher it goes. BTW did you know you can access the codes without a scanner? I found nothing there though so it has to be mechanical - I'll figure it out - always do...

It's just a stock 4.0 with 369,000 miles on it and it works. All that BTU, aluminum head, high compression crap your'e throwing around may be...

    Ethanol mixture

Just an FYI - I'm running - and have been for 6 months - about a 60 - 40 gas to ethanol mix. Did a major tune up last year and was getting 15 mpg average. After mixing the ethanol in I get 17 average and the old girl idles smoother and a bit slower. BTW she has 369,843 miles on the original...

XJ 1995 4.0 Misses and stinky smoking Cat

My 1995 cherokee was running great after I replaced all the exxhaust from the head pipe back. All with a high flow system. A Crown Cat - 2.25 inlet and 2.5 outlet and pipe and a Dynomax muffler. That was about 2 weeks ago - only change I've done for 6 months. Except I gassed up at a different...
