A properly built D30 will come in just under the cost of a decent d44 and well under the cost of a decent d60 at well under the cost. You will be limited but not very much if you stay with 35's.

I have said many times and I reiterate, the stock setup in God working order is best. That being said, I am running two 12" fans and a 10" fan and it is barely adequate for most uses. If I could stand the noise of the mechanical fan I would go back to that. I am just too freaked out by the noise...

Detroits are pretty tough but when you have an axleshaft failure they break internally. The internal parts can't handle the shock. I had a Detroit that kept breaking after an axleshaft failure and I got tired of buying expensive replacement parts and bought a grizzly.
