Thanks for the suggestions. Good to know there are decent sources available. I picked up an APDI condenser at a local radiator/ac shop and it seems to be a much better fit. Hopefully the liquid line that is arriving tomorrow will be the same.
I double checked the 4 Seasons Kit from Autozone...
I started a project to replace the AC system in my 2000 Cherokee and ordered a 4 Seasons Kit along with a Spectra condenser from Autozone. The compressor fit just fine but about every other piece was off. The condenser inlet/outlet pipes put the high pressure line from the compressor in the...
My electric fan is in the process of destroying itself. Looking for a replacement. I found a couple online that both had decent reviews. Anyone have any recent experience with the Dorman or TYC options?
I found a post in my search mentioning the Dorman might require a connector adapter.
For the record, there was a 4th bolt/nut at the bottom of the bracket, oriented front to back, that had to come out. This bolt anchored the bottom of the bracket to the engine case. In order to get to the back of the bolt, the cooling fan assembly needs to come off.
Now the fun begins trying...
The bracket that the compressor bolts into has 3 visible 9/16" bolts which thread into the engine/cylinder head. I've removed these 3 bolts but the bracket, which also seems integral to the cooling fan, has loosened but isn't coming out. Ugh.. I will try and take a photo.
2000 XJ 4.0L
I was hoping to make a quick job of replacing my failing AC compressor with the bypass pulley. One of the 4 compressor bolts sheared about 1/2" above the bracket that also supports the cooling fan.
I'm thinking I need to take the bracket out and drill out this bolt on the bench...
I am replacing the rear drums and shoes of my 2000 XJ for the first time. I have one side disassembled and am getting ready to put this puzzle back together. When I disassembled I noticed the parking brake cable is fairly well attached to the parking brake lever (lever inside the drum...
My mistake was refilling the same amount that I drained. I drained 4.5 quarts and added the same back in. It was overfilled before I drained/refilled! Yes, I know I should have checked the level before putting the same amount back in. I'd really prefer not to waste that new fluid, but I...
My ATF fluid level is too high. I was wondering if it's possible to drain small amounts of fluid by carefully loosening the drain plug until fluid starts to drain but the plug is still in the pan threads? I'd prefer not to do another full drain/refill.
I was also considering using a suction...
I am gearing up to replace the brake components on all 4 wheels. Rotors, pads, drums, shoes, cylinders. Anything else? Is Napa or AutoZone OK for sourcing? What type of brake fluid (DOT3?).
I would appreciate any tips if there is anything non-standard to watch out for. This is my first...
Hi,
My 2000 Cherokee failed emissions because they couldn't get a reading. I have confirmed I have power (14v) on pin 16, and my grounds (pins 4/5) are good. I have also verified continuity from DLC pins 6/7 back to the PCM, so the wires are OK. It drives fine. There is no CEL on.
I can...
im also trying to figure out this same thing and hopefully avoid your situation. if you think of anything, let me know. the only thing i could figure out was according to the FSM the whole system has 180 ml. the accumulator has 90 ml. the condensor has 22 ml. the evaporator has 45 ml. then...
hopefully i am in the last chapter of this ac saga. ive got the replacement compressor and accumulator in. the last thing i need to do is put oil in and then button it back up. i know the general guideline is to drain whats in the old compressor and put that in the new compressor...well...the...
does an evacuation remove all oil? or is there still some remaining in the other system components (condenser, accumulator, etc.). is there any way to remove this also? otherwise it seems like you have to guess how much is left in the system, and add that into the compressor. this is my...
i've also been told the fixed orifice tube is worth replacing, but every post i've found on here where someone tried to replace this they ended up with a leaky evaporator. is it really necessary? also, i am replacing the compressor with a used one (price was right), do i need to drain and...
2000 cherokee sport
i was planning on replacing the failed ac clutch bearing in hopes of keeping the system pressurized, but after realizing how many special tools are required, and the difficulty in finding this replacement bearing, i figured it might be easier just to replace the entire...
do you happen to know what size that belt might be? or a good technique to figure it out? i heard they also make a pulley bracket to replace the compressor and keep using the original sized belt?
