Any room left for improvement in stock brakes?

Hey guys, been a while since I posted on here but I am looking to see if there is any ounce more of performance I can squeeze out of my otherwise stock brakes. Quick run down of my 97 XJ brake setup: Front - entirely stock with the exception of ceramic pads and drilled and slotted rotors (my...

Copper/brass heater core for less than $400?

I got the Vista Pro and while it’s build quality wasn’t the same as the original, it’s has been performing excellently ever since! I also posted a video to my YouTube channel that lets you see the difference between the original, the garbage aluminum ones, and the Vist Pro...

Copper/brass heater core for less than $400?

So Thermal Solutions is still showing it in their catalogue. The unit is sold under the name Vista Pro, same part #399233. Seems a lot of places are showing it out of stock so you may have to call around or I would call Thermal Solutions direct and ask them what’s the deal.

All new A/C, cool but not cold.

Alright guys, thank you so much for all the insightful responses! So for those that are not familiar with the 97 system, there isn't an expansion valve. There is an orifice tube. I replaced everything in the system, including the orifice tube, except for the compressor. I checked the levels on...

All new A/C, cool but not cold.

I have a 1997 XJ 4.0 Auto 4x4 and I recently replaced everything in the A/C system except the compressor. Holds pressure fine, compressor working perfectly and the readings on the gauges are exactly within spec. But the air in not COLD. It’s cool, but not cold. This Jeep had great A/C back in...

    Intermittent gauges mystery

Haven't tried those grounds! I wouldn't have thought that the grounds for the block would cause an issue like this but I guess anything is possible! I will get him to bring it back to me and give it a try!

    Intermittent gauges mystery

Hey guys, been a while since I was on here. So my uncle brings his 99 XJ Sport 4x4 Auto 4.0 to me for work that needs to be done to it. Recently he brought it to me with an intermittent gauges situation. I think its the usually dirty contacts so I pull the gauges and clean the contacts, put a...

New Engine + New Motor Mounts = #$&@ at 1000RPM

I will put my .2 cents in. I had Rusty's poly mounts and then their rubber mounts several years ago. I heard the advice to play with the tightness of the through bolts and tried that with little success. My Jeep was in pretty good running condition for an old Jeep that was only around 10 years...

    Electric Fan Conversion Install

Nice to know. I would love to hear feed back of how just two fans full time handle the cooling. Like I said I would love to do this setup and leave the third fan, closest to the ECM, hooked to the OE fan circuit and functioning like the OE fan.

    Electric Fan Conversion Install

How well do the 2 fans do by themselves? I have 2 stock e-fans currently and the one fan running on its own with the other still setup like stock, the Jeep creeps up to 215 at stop lights. When the other kicks on at 215 it comes back down and when moving its 200-210. I am really considering...

    Another running hot thread

All great questions! Lets see how much of that I can address. All current issues I am experiencing have remained the same since they began with the old engine and now the new engine. So when I put the new engine in it got a brand new Banks header because the old one had a crack that I...

    Another running hot thread

I ditched the in-radiator trans cooler for an external auxiliary cooler that is quite large for adequate cooling. I also installed a trans temp gauge on the A-pillar to monitor the transmission. It typically stays 160-185 on most summer days.

    Another running hot thread

Thanks for catching that, forgot to add water pump to the list. Did a stock replacement pump before and after the new engine went in. I have considered an upgraded pump but heard conflicting info. Some say it helps, some say it pump fluid through the radiator too fast and the fluid doesn't spend...

    Another running hot thread

So my 97 XJ has been plagued with a running hot issue since 2011. I had a CSF 3 row brass radiator for 7 years up until 2011 before temps began to creep up and I discovered it leaking. I made the mistake of trying an all aluminum "performance" 3 row radiator from Champion. Went through 5 of...

    Infinity Gold amp specs?

I have a 97 XJ with the Infinity Gold amp and I was curious if anyone knew what the specs were on it? Trying to figure out if it is worth the hassle to upgrade. I am not necessarily unhappy with it but just wanting to satisfy some curiosity.

Viper Alarm won't disarm. Don't know where else to go

Well then I guess I have no warranty. It was installed by HiFi Buys which is now out of business. Also it was installed in 2004 when I was 18 and was a Christmas present from my parents so I don't have any purchase information on it. It is however installed in the original vehicle so I got 1 out...

So the brain of this thing is covered under warranty for life?

Viper Alarm won't disarm. Don't know where else to go

I had it installed in 2004 so yeah its an old system haha but it seems to be functioning fine with the spare remote aside from the remote not acknowledging the feedback from the actions it makes. But lock, unlock, alarm, and remote start all function fine. So I just need a new remote.

Viper Alarm won't disarm. Don't know where else to go

That may be true on the standard one way remotes. I have a 2 way pager remote and it takes 1 AAA battery.

Viper Alarm won't disarm. Don't know where else to go

It turned out to be a busted remote. My remotes only have 1 battery in them so its not hard to mess that one up, if the battery is dead its dead and I have to replace it. i was aware of valet mode but I had not used it. It was working fine all day and just quit. I finally got home to my other...
