    Haynes Manual for 84-01 Cherokee

Well, I sold my XJ, and now I have a brand new (never cracked open!) Haynes Manual for 84-01 Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Comanche (manual #50010) that I don't need anymore. First come, first served. Send me your address and I'll mail it to you for a whopping $10. When you receive it, my address...

    Wierd electrical fan prob. Help

I don't think anyone answered your question, so I'll try. If your fan goes on at all, then (obviously) the fan motor is not the problem and the relay (in the fuse box near the battery) is probably not the problem. The electric fan works off of the CTS (coolant temp sensor) located in the front...

    Tire won't hold balance!!!

The tire pressure is not just vehicle dependent, so your door jamb recommended tire pressure (which applies to your OEM tires, BTW) can be way off. As the previous poster points out, some of the truck tires (like those with XL ratings) are stiffer (more belts) and are rated for more pressure...

    Need new down pipe

Correction: If the tube is 400-series stainless steel (like Type 409) it IS magnetic. If it is 300-series stainless steel (like 304 or 316) it is non-magnetic. I'd recommend the BANKS head tube (I believe it's 409 SS). It's a direct fit and great quality.

Recommend me some tires please! All-season tires, $60-90.

MY 2 CENTS WORTH: Firestone DESTINATION A/T You can read reviews & view the tread at www.tirerack.com Great on all surfaces (dry, wet, ice, snow). Call around to different Firestone shops and haggle for the best price --they have plenty of wiggle room...

    Cooper Discoverer ATR

New find! I got these for my girlfriend's Liberty & they're GREAT. I may have to switch from my decades of various Goodyears to these... Just my $0.02 worth... Check out the Firestone Destination AT's (not the LE's). Great tread, great price, great grip. You can look 'em up at...

    Cold Start Problems

Join the large club... Same thing with mine... If you search the site for "hard starting" problems, you'll see a common cause is the check valve located in the fuel pump assembly (in your gas tank). When the check valve gets old, it allows flowback of fuel to the tank and then it takes awhile...

    Black Stell Wheels

Re: Black Steel Wheels Nix my previous idea on wheel spacers... I was thinking backwards... Only if U wanted a lot less BS, would you possibly need wheel spacers. Less BS = potential for wider tires --check-- so U shouldn't need 5.5" BS, as "aplatz" states. On the Rochester salt belt issue...

    Black Stell Wheels

Re: Black Steel Wheels I don't think Cragar has the 5.5" backspace you're looking for in that size/style. There are some Cragar D-window (Series 342) black steel wheels 15X8, 5X4.5" bolt circle, with a 4.75" backspace. If you need more BS in that size, you might need to use wheel spacers. Try...

Need ideas for mounting my cell in my 98 XJ

A real neat way to install this is to use a custom bracket that mounts to the "side" of your OEM radio. The company that makes 'em is called PANAVISE. Your P/N is 75106-194 You can see a photo of the bracket install at...

    Bumper and foglights queston

If you want OEM parts, here you go: http://www.jeepsareus.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=JAU&Product_Code=Cfogwiring&Category_Code=CHEROKEE I opted for the OEM wiring kit and some (thin profile) HELLA 500s mounted on TOP of the metal bumper. Very easy to install with the...

    '98 XJ - Fuel pump replacement-HELP

I'll try the "genie in the bottle" and report back. I had heard that the fuel pump can be replaced without dropping the tank. Is that true?

    '98 XJ - Fuel pump replacement-HELP

Well, after reading all the previous related posts to "hard starting", I'm convinced I have the typical check valve issue with my fuel pump. I can always start it, if I turn the ignition halfway & waiting a few seconds (to build up fuel pressure) ... so it's not a big deal right now...

    Speedo+tach drop to 0 w/airbag light?

Had same thing happen on '98XJ & '94YJ. Common problem, my fix was the same for both gauge clusters. Maybe it'll help U. Remove gauge cluster and re-tighten (don't over-tighten) small Phillips-head screws on back of contacts. if there is any corrosion (due to water drips...) clean that off first...

How hot does the manifold get?

Do yourself a nice favor and get the Borla stainless steel headers. It's more than the delaer will charge you but it has a lifetime warranty and you'll get about 10 more HP. Yeah, really! (...especially if you also add their "catback" muffler/tailpipe). A little extra HP kick in the pants and...

    E85

It's deceiving, because every O-ring, gasket, and seal from the fuel pump to the FPR (P-reg.) to the FPC (diagnostic P-conn.) to the fuel rail inlet tube conn. is potentially more susceptible to degradation. Of course, the standard E10 O-rings/seals will last awhile with E85, but if you use E85...

    E85

Well, yes, E85 is legal for E85 vehicles, but... there are some legal hurdles if you use E85 in a non-E85 vehicle or get your car converted to use E85. But, I've never heard of anyone getting prosectuted for this. See legal-eeze minutae here: http://www.e85fuel.com/e85101/faqs/conversion.php

    E85

I'll repeat my admonition... DO NOT use the E85 in a vehicle not designed for it. I work as a Materials Engineer for DELPHI; we design & manufacture the fuel systems (rails, injectors, etc.) for E10 & E85 vehicles for most GM vehicles. There is much more to an E85 "conversion" than just...
