    Help. I have a 90 4.0, it has a weird miss especially at cruise speed

    please respond!!! would like to bump this up because my fuel pump makes a humming sound on and off also, Does this mean it's bad,going bad or is this the norm? By the way it does start fine (except it really really needs a tune up.)Thanks for all replies....

    what could have caused this?

    may have found the prob Ok after pulling the batt and batt tray started to pull the electrical plug from back of alt and found the yellow wire almost torn in two, Guessing this could cause alt to act the way it did? when going around corners it would cause the gauge to jump up and down?..

    what could have caused this?

    problem is the batt cables were new (pos and neg)and there was no corrosion on them.i'm kinda leaning on the alt is going in and out, prob is if it is working when having it tested will it show that it is bad or not?. Rather not have to but new one if not needed. I'll check it out anyways...

    Re: thermal it is!!! just replaced the thermastat it wouldn't open in boiling water so it prob was bad, If not then will replace the fanclutch.Just got the XJ a few weeks ago was slightly overheating then, Decided to wash engine due to having lotso oil on it and didn't know bout TPS being...

    Yes it was running a little to hot (just above 210 while driving) before TPS change, when driving if you stop or slow way down then it creeps up to just above the red mark but does not really go over it. But yes it did do it before. And it kinda looks like the fan doesn't speed up when engine is...

    Well did get the new tps in and cleaned the IAC and does run better, but trying to overheat (slightly). But I was under the impression you had to set a new TPS when a new one is installed. Oh well not complaining.And thanks for the reply

    ok got the new tps in and set but now the temp tries to crawl over the 210 mark as if trying to overheat ( Ok it did this for some time now), The aux fan does kick in and come on.My question is would my clutch on main fan be thermal or none thermal? TIA. Oh this for 90 XJ with 40L

    does anybody have a webpage with instructions and pics of tps being setup? You'll have excuse my duhness but i have always worked on older CJ's with V-8's.thanks for any answers.Oh and this forum does ROCK
