Started my 4.7 Stroker build today.

After having a taste of the power difference a stroker provides, there is no way i'd go any other route. I'd take out a good running motor to drop one in. It's so much more fun to drive.

    Stroker vs options

A well known SoCal 4.0 builder. I took it back to him and he said he'd redo it. That was 6 months ago... Hopefully he'll stand behind his work.

    Stroker vs options

I had a Stroker built by the best and didn't get 5k miles on it and it imploded. Trying to find out what I'm going to do next.

lockers! what ya running and why?

Hey, that's a good point... maybe it is regional. I know when I'm leading a large run we'll go down the line of rigs and ask anyone I don't recognize.. "you locked or open"? Typical responses are "ya, locked in the rear" or "I'm open" Maybe it's a slang in my area. I don't need to clarify...

lockers! what ya running and why?

I don't think you are understanding (or are ignoring) the terms people generally use. My rig is locked= I have lockers. it does not mean your shafts are hard locked together like a spool 100% of the time. If you have a locker in front and are in 2WD, the locker will not lock the shafts together...

    4.0 rebuild, 243 hp, 286 ft-#'s torque!

By far the best thing I did to my XJ was the Russ Stroker... He says it puts you in the neighborhood of 300hp. My jeep is so much more fun to drive now... love it!!!

    AW4 Over-ride Switch

The gear selection switch is one of my favorite mods. I can lock it in second and turn off the Torque Converter lock and drive around the trails comfortably. Get into the rocks and turn the knob to 1st and i'm good to go. I'd like to slap the engineer that decided a 1/2 combo shifter was a...

Coil Spring Choice - for my grocery getter rock crawler!

I switched from RE coil springs to Deavers some time back. Wow, what a difference it made. Way less body roll on and off road. I like to go fast in the rocks and these coils do great giving me a fantastic ride.

Frame Stiffener and Control Arm Bracket

I kept mine intact and installed brackets over them. Welded braces to stiffeners. It's been about 10 years... so far so good! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

    Air Filter Too Small?

I added an all-thread just under the filter through mine with a nut on both sides. Used the nuts to squeeze in the box a bit and suck up the "bow".

Lockup override switch. As in prevention.

I bought a controller about 15 years ago that wires in and allows you to select the gear you want (bypass the combo 1/2 gear). It has a switch that disables the Torque Converter. I use it often when wheeling. Without it and wheeling in 2nd if you come to a stop it would kill the engine. So I...

    Trouble going into park

Sometimes shifting into park, the shifter won't go past Reverse. I have to wiggle a bit to get it into park. Possible causes? Caused by shifter or in trans?

    Short arms

The SA/LA debate has been going for 20 years! I'm firmly on the "A properly set up Short arm will preform about the same as most Long arms AND provide you with better clearance". I've seen way more people high centered on their Long arm mounts than their short arm drop brackets. We have two...
