    Axle Swap Advice

I have never blown up a D30 R&P but I know a guy who did. He was in a TJ so it was a LP D30. And he was running 37s for years so he was pretty much asking for it to blow up

    Axle Swap Advice

I went with the ECGS "Dana 489". Its basically a beefed up TJ 44 housing (1/2" thick tubes vs 1/4" stock) with a JK 44 8.89" ring gear. Opted for RCVs so its warrantied up to 40s, not that I'd ever want to do that. Maintaining stock width and bolt pattern were important to me. Also in the...

    Axle Swap Advice

Tons are way overkill for your needs and built up stock axles probably won't be worth it. And with overbuilt stock axles you will always have to be careful and limit your throttle. I was in a similar position to you, minus the 350, and ended up with 44/9". Its built correct once and will be...

    Welding precautions

I used to always disconnect the battery religiously. Then once I forgot and nothing bad happened so eventually I got out of the habit. Now I never disconnect the battery when welding and I've never had any issues as a result.

    Another 0331 bites the dust!

Dang that sucks, how many miles did she make it? Just did mine last week with a replacement head from Clearwater. I think mine might have been only a very slightly bad head gasket but there is no way I was going to throw that ticking time bomb back on the engine. The head gasket on there...

    0331 Strikes Again...?

Pulled the valve cover Saturday and saw nothing notable. No evidence of coolant or any visible cracks. Ran the engine maybe 10 minutes and still no signs of coolant. Doesn't mean that a crack doesn't exist (evidence says it probably does exist), but nothing is visible. If a crack was visible...

I'm not following, could you explain your thoughts on the harmonic balancer? Regardless, I replaced the harmonic balancer a year and a half ago

    0331 Strikes Again...?

Yea I didn't see anything but it's not easy to see in there. Was considering pulling the valve cover for a better look when it warms up

    0331 Strikes Again...?

The sample was taken 2/2/24, during the oil change. I let a little oil flow first then filled the provided sample bottle like they recommend. I did go on a deep snow bashing trail run in January. Could it pick up water from that? Definitely will keep an eye on it. I think I'll run...

    0331 Strikes Again...?

I finally got around to doing a Blackstone oil analysis on my 2001. I use Mobil 1 10W-30 Full Synthetic High Mileage and run the recommended amount of Seafoam in the oil a few days before the oil change. It has 147k miles and runs great. Thought the test would be for peace of mind and was...

1990 turn and parking light issue left front and dash

Did you or anyone do a H4 Headlight upgrade? I had a very similar issue to what you describe when I got my XJ. Previous owner had done the H4 upgrade and butchered it. He tried replacing the flasher relay and turn signal switch but failed to fix it. Ended up being a bad ground. Not sure if...

    1 Ton steering clearance issues

Yea, you're correct. Some vendors (RuffStuff and Barnes) are still calling the part a Y-Link TRE even if its technically for a T-Link. Still no one makes an offset TRE that will work here (that I know of)

    1 Ton steering clearance issues

I think there is another flat spot that is already next to the Track bar bolt. The only way I know to solve this is with offset TREs. But since you have the Y-link still I think you are out of luck on the passenger side. I don't know of anyone that makes an offset Y-link GM one ton TRE. For...

    Best upgrades you've done?

Hands down frame stiffeners, especially the rears. Made huge difference in ride quality and competence on road. Got rid of the creaking and popping when you hit a bump or articulate the suspension.

Routing ARB Air Lines to Rear Axle

Thanks everyone. Installed the air line yesterday and it works great. Tried to run a 90 but couldn't due to one of the ribs on the third member being in the way, preventing me from screwing in a 90 fitting. Anyways just looped the line back on top of the axle housing and secured it to the...

Routing ARB Air Lines to Rear Axle

Any suggestions for a thermal sleeve? I have heard of people running the ARB 5/6mm air lines through larger rubber fuel/vacuum line for extra protection. But that probably won't do much for thermal protection

Routing ARB Air Lines to Rear Axle

Does anyone have tips/tricks on how to route ARB air lines to the rear axle? I'd love to see pictures of how you did it. Just swapped in one of the old Currie high pinion 9" rear axles that I found on Craigslist. The air bulkhead fitting is on the passenger side of the 3rd member and...

RE leaf spring bush. The RE1495 bushes are discontined

Strange, the website was working last Thursday when I posted. It's basically the same table that Stengel has so you can at least get a part number based on the dimensions needed.

RE leaf spring bush. The RE1495 bushes are discontined

Measure your bushings and go to SD Truck Springs. If they don't have what you need, then no one has it. I've ordered from SD a few times and they are legit https://www.sdtrucksprings.com/bushings/rubber-leaf-spring-bushings
