    Replacing A pillar

Hey, that's cool! So, is Duane still running this thing around? I was very impressed with it. I also have more pictures of his bed, frame, suspension, etc, but I posted these pics because some folks were asking about sinking tubing into the A pillar and I think Duane did just that, right? Jeff

    Replacing A pillar

Well, after not having posted anything in quite some time, I find a thread in advanced fab that I have something to add to, but I guess I can't post there without paying for membership or forum supporter status, so I am making my post here instead. Hopefully those interested will find this...

    Moab travel costs

I had a real cheap trip from WI other than fuel! I added the fuel receipts up and came up to somewhere around $1500!!! '03 Dodge 2500 Hemi with cab over camper towing a MJ trailer with 500lb motorcycle. I spent much of my time with my foot to the floor! Colorado is up hill in every direction...

    Hi. My name is....

What about the totally tube XJ? That thing bite the dust finally? I might show up with my DRZ400 in my MJ trailer behind my truck and camper. :) I'll most likely be looking for a seat for a day or so. The MJ I had planned to wheel for the 25th still isn't done on the 30th...not even close...

    Narrowed front fascia

No, I did do a little more work on the front end sheet metal stuff, but not much. It is now residing in my rented houses basement! I've not really done anything on it in awhile. It's still there though. :) I really should try to get this thing going for the Moab gathering this coming fall...

Yes, it is a WJ box. Jeff

    GM 5.3/4L60E/Klune/Stak 300

Here's an update: I stripped EVERYTHING from my garage and moved 45 miles away where I put EVERYTHING into the basement of a rented house! My marriage has pretty much ended and I moved out. I tried to find a place with a nice garage, but instead I found a place further north than I wanted...

    Michigan's UP

I just finished looking at your Montana pics and really enjoyed them! I know of quite a few places in the UP, but one that is really cool is the mouth of the Huron River NE of Skanee which is NE of L'anse and NW of Marquette. It is a super beach with dispersed ON beach camping! No facilities...

    belly height

When you guys give belly heights, it would be good to know if you have a belly flat with the "frame" rails or if it dips down. My MJ project will be flat from bottom of rail to bottom of rail but I don't know where the height is going to end up just yet. I'm going to be comparing it to the...

Looking to buy a dana 44 ARB?

I have an issue. I have a brand new 35 spline RD109 for 3.92 and numerically higher gears that I would like to be a 35 spline RD147 for 3.73 and numerically lower gears. The only difference in these two ARB's is the outer case halves. They have a different offset for the two gear splits...

    GM 5.3/4L60E/Klune/Stak 300

Well, I got both hubs on with the rims/tires and fabbed up a stupid looking rear axle to allow the thing to roll. I rolled it out of the garage, snapped a few pictures and rolled it back into the garage on the other side. Finally I have a free stall to actually park a car in. I'm really...

    GM 5.3/4L60E/Klune/Stak 300

Hey, here's another tiny little update with a few pictures! :) I am trying to get the front axle together enough to put the tires and wheels on it so I can roll it out and then move it over to the other side of my two car garage...which hasn't seen two cars in 5 years! I welded some bump stop...

My JD2 Model 32 air over hydro on centerline project

Other than paint, I think my stand is finished...although I might add some spots to hold pins and such. I guess we'll see. Here is the whole thing looking at it from the side with the bender sitting horizontal. Same config but from above: Swiveled it vertical without changing anything so...

My JD2 Model 32 air over hydro on centerline project

Here are some pics of the stand welded up. I need to get some casters, but it's together. Horizontal or vertical and adjustable for getting the bender level or getting the tube level prior to bending. Jeff

My JD2 Model 32 air over hydro on centerline project

I should have purchased a knob from McMaster Carr for operating the ram release pin when I bought the bushings, but I didn't, so I took a piece of aluminum I had, stuck it in my friends lathe and whipped out this: It takes a 3/8" (or slightly less) hole to fit over the Harbor Freight pin...

My JD2 Model 32 air over hydro on centerline project

It looks KIND OF like yours, but the big difference comes in the fact that I made the ram push and pull along its centerline as opposed to mounting it to the bender off the side like you and many others have done. With your method, the ram WILL experince side loading. It's not that big of a...

My JD2 Model 32 air over hydro on centerline project

Also, I needed a spacer of some sort to keep the ram centered between the stationary bender arms, so I drilled some 1" holes in a couple pieces of 1/8" strap, slipped them over the pins and then welded some sides down to the clamp. This arrangement provides the necessary spacer AND provides...

My JD2 Model 32 air over hydro on centerline project

I also purchased two non flanged brass bushings with the intent to install them into the die pivot holes in the arms. I want the main drive pin to easily be installed and removed, the joint to have a bushing for wear, and to keep the arms from falling out when changing dies...especially when...

My JD2 Model 32 air over hydro on centerline project

Now, the next issue is how to attach the ram to the moveable arms. The ram shaft has a 5/8” hole in it. The arms have ¾” holes in them and come with ¾” bolts with 1” OD sleeves to go between the arms. The Ram shaft is only 1 3/16” in diameter by the mounting hole which doesn’t leave much...

My JD2 Model 32 air over hydro on centerline project

I used the die grinder and burr to clean up the inside of the pivot pins and then ran a bead of weld from the inside filling the chamfer and connecting the pivot pin to the clamp quite well. After final cleanup with the die grinder I test fit the whole thing together. The pins fit into the...
