Donor gauge cluster vs aftermarket gauges

I had the same cluster issue with my 89. I bought a cluster through e-bay for $40.00. My new cluster was out of an 89 so all I had to do was pull the OG one out and pop in the new one. Every thing was cable driven like the old one. I even went to the local pick & pull and grabbed a pile of the...

I want to Herculine my 89 XJ

I will probably be using "smooth Tan" by Durabak. They offer both textured and non textured coatings. They even have a few pictures of coated Cherokees. heh http://www.durabakcompany.com/scratchguard.htm

    paint herculiner?

Can I ask why you are painting over it? I only ask because I just posted a thread asking if anyone had even coated their whole vehicle with herculiner. I was thinking of doing it because my paint is failing fast and I want better sctatch protection.

I want to Herculine my 89 XJ

Yeah, I did a little more looking and found a liner company that can color match stock paint colors with their material. They say you can either roll it or spray it. I'll have to call them to see about a price. Of course I don't have the links handy but I will post them tonight. I know price...

I want to Herculine my 89 XJ

I own an 89 XJ and the gold paint has seen better days. There are no rust spots but when I cut in some hood vents the tape I used to “protect” the paint ended up pulling half the clear coat off. Now it looks like it has the mange. There was also some poor quality body work done by the previous...

    Broken exhaust bracket blues

Yeah I am getting tired of replacing it with crap so I am going to weld some more steel to both sides of the narrow part that cracks to try and beef it up a little. I am thinking the metal gets weakened when they bend the foot. I'll post pictures of the new and improved one when I get it finished.

    Broken exhaust bracket blues

I seem to be having some issues with my 89 XJ’s exhaust. There is a bracket that bolts on to the front of the transmission and hangs down to support the section of the exhaust by way of a clamp around the tube and the foot on the bracket. This &#$!* bracket breaks in the same spot about two to...

    Window moulding

http://www.teamcherokee.com/Weatherstrip/index.html All I have to say is "Thank the Jeep Gods!" I have been lookng for the stupid molding for ages. The dealer didn't even look it up and told me they stopped making the replacement window rubber for anything older than mid 90's. I found the door...

    Front end noise stopping?

Well I just went through the same thing with my 89 XJ. I recently installed a 4.5 inch Rubicon Express kit so I knew the track bar was new and the mount was fine. The steering box was fine as well. I finally got sick of hearing the noise and spent a few minutes under the front end with my buddy...

    rattling, knocking noise

I own an 89 XJ and the bracket uses one of the bottom bolts on the front of the transmission to hold it to the Jeep. The other end looks like a foot where it is clamped to the exhaust tube. It doesn't fit very well and the dealer said it was a known problem and was fixed in later models. "Nice"...

    rattling, knocking noise

If you feel the knocking noise in the floor, check the stupid exhaust bracket that mounts to the front of the tranmission. The foot that clamps on to the exhaust breaks because its cheap. Mine is broken and clunking now and its the third time it has gone out on me. Now I am making one out of...

    Fuel injection problems

For a project, I purchased an 89 pioneer with really high mileage with the intention of making it in to a trail rig. Anyway the 300,000+ mile engine was replaced with a rebuilt long block from the local parts store which is working fine but I used the original fuel injection parts from the old...

    Removing Front Vent Windows?

What year Cherokee are you talking about. I own a 1989 and I hate the leaking vent windows. I don't know if the older Cherokees even came with solid windows or if I have to take a chance with buying a newer solid window and making it fit.
