What's the lifespan of a harmonic balancer on an xj? Mine is a 99 and it has the original and the rubber is cracked but other than that I don't see any problems. Well I have the radiator out and some room should I be doing my harmonic balancer or can these last a lifetime of the vehicle?

It looks like there's a small amount of oil on the bolt and possibly weeping from the lower water pump bolt on my 99 XJ. Does it require a thread sealant or some RTV sealant?

I guess I should add if it's cold and sitting it only sound 1.5 turns. If I spin is 2 or three times then it starts to free spin.

Can't find a OEM fan cluch. The napa one spins pretty free (5 seconds). The old one is much stiffer and has constant resistance. Takes a few pounds of force to move it. No spinning and no changes with temp. Should the new clutch be like this?

Does it make a difference who supplies the fan clutch? Looking at some of the duralast reviews it sounds like they are engaged all the time. OEM the best option?

Well I think I found the problem. The electric fan had come unplugged. Probably my own fault not seating it properly several months ago. Knowing that any reason to change the water pump and thermostat components? Should I just do it while I'm there or can they keep going?
