Added sentry key / SKIM to my Jeep:

Now that I have mostly finished my 00MJ build the fear of it being stolen is real. We all know how easy it is to steal both the early and late model XJs. So I decided to add the sentry key to my MJ I bought a new uncoded SKIM module off of eBay, two keys and got to work. Since my MJ is an 88...

So then I went to Ouray for the holiday weekend: Had to do some clearancing on my dads CRD pinch seam: Then down to telluride and over to Ophir: And then the next day we ran to the top of black bear: Ive been leaving the rear camera on when driving the trails, here...

Ok so without the A pillar seal there is an incredible amount of wind noise that comes in. So I figured a way to use the newer seal without a ton of work, I grabbed a 4 foot peice of small aluminum angle. And then used double sided 3m foam tape to hold it in place. Initially I was going to rivet...

Spent the weekend in ouray breaking it in. Rattled a bunch of stuff loose and retorqued a bunch of things. Two small casualties, sway bar disco nut rattled off, and exhaust kept coming loose at header and then eventually broke off the forward hangar arm leaving a gaping exhaust hole. Time to...

Maybe, maybe not. There is a long overhang on the MJ, but generally I don’t do stuff that would have such a departure angle to do that. Keep in mind this is a LWB Jeep with moderate lift and a heavy topper. It’s meant to be a camping/over landing rig, not a hardcore wheeler. Now you could make...

I pulled some heated leather seats and the switches over a decade ago, been sitting in my basement. Decided I’m not a fan of leather so I’m sticking with cloth. I used the pass side power seat plug to power my dual power seat bases. I snagged a circuit breaker from the junkyard and use a spare...

I’m going to use the factory heated seat driver, I’ll need to add a temp sensor to each heater and then wire them all up. I’ve got everything I need, but when I pulled it I didn’t realize it was all one harnes that runs from the power connector under the pass seat and I could have unplugged it...

Ya that’s a nice solution in the console, I never use the sunglasses holder or garage door opener thing anyway. One of the wires in the overhead console should be the dimmer signal as well, so you can tie into it up there for the backlight on the switches. I didn’t bother to mess with how the...

Thanks! Yes I like that the symbol is different! front fogs point left, rear right. And the lines are a little different. Again makes it feel OEM which is what I’m trying to do in my build. Anyone can drill a hole in the dash and put in a crooked toggle switch with rats nest wiring, and for...

Thanks all! And yes I think aged galvanizing has less shiny and more dull. Thats ok. Eventually it will get painted anyway. I'm just enjoying the knowledge of the ultimate rust protection. I haven't seen it all, but I have never seen anyone with a Jeep with galvanized bumpers or other parts...

Installing a double din Atoto head unit in my XJ

I also did this on my MJ recently, though I specifically looked for a radio with a volume knob on/off button.

    Well, that was a disaster.

Drive in FWD while you figure it out?

Got the bumper picked up and installed, as expected zinc filled in threaded holes, I knew that they would need to be tapped out after galvanizing. And then.......camp time! Went up to the Snowy Range in Medicine Bow: Diesel approved: Folded up and dusty...

Ya this is a first for me but conceptually I really like the idea of galvanized bumpers, and rock sliders, and so on. I got a call from the galvanizers today, it’s dropped off Tuesday ready for pickup today. Hopefully I’ll get the bumper installed tonight, reverse lights hooked up, etc.

Ok, bought a bunch of vac fittings, clamps, and fuel vapor hose at the parts store so I could get the evap system complete. No pics of the evap system because its boring. But its complete and shouldnt give me any issues with CELs. And then last friday (1 week ago), I got my exhaust done...
