I have a 2000 XJ with the "Upcountry" suspension package.
I bought it brand new, and have never changed the pitman arm!
OK, so.........
I ordered a drop pitman arm to go with my new 5.5" lift.
It turns out that its the same darn length as the stock one thats on there right now!

Im not sure of the reason for fluid condition...
All I can say is flush it all out.
and keep an eye on the condition of it periodically.
The broken motor/tranny mount MIGHT cause binding of the levers.
Sounds to me like theres an air pocket in there somewhere.....
Been there done that. I ended up having to park it on the driveway so the front end was at an incline. and crank those wheels back and forth . and eventually it all worked out......
So try parking at various angles to work the...
If its gonna be a DD I would reccomend the Automatic.....
I love my 2000. I bought it brand new (only 3 miles).
It now has barely 60,000 on it now.
I have had no Problems to speak of.. just the usual VEHICLE problems. hoses,belts etc.. ya know....
Death wobble causes........................
--Front tires out of balance, Rims bent.
--Front alignment out of spec(Caster, Toe).
--Loose track bar.
--Worn track bar bushings.
--Worn track bar end.
--Bad bushings/joints in control arms.
--Worn/damaged steering stabilizer.
--Worn/damaged shocks...
I agree ASAP!
Flush it with regular ATF, then fill it with Mobil 1 ATF.
It could be a bad tranny or engine mount causing binding.
I spoil my Jeep! I use only Mobil 1 fluids. even grease. :o)
Try some it will like it.
If the shocks are too long IT WILL bottom out!
on A BB 2" shocks will be fine as a B.S.
My shocks have been my B.S for years now with no problems..... its perfect actually.... personal opinion though....
I say take the BPE's off and try it!
