What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

I tightened the tranny pan bolts after putting in a new cork filter about 6 weeks ago. Second (and final) tighten down. No leaks but some of them needed about 1/4 turn, nice and gently.

    OBD1 Scanner

Where do you plug it in? I've never used a scanner, just the key on-off-on-off-on trick.

    Engine/Oil Heating Options?

Driving an XJ. I'll be spending the winter where it gets down to negative 30 for weeks at a time. I won't be able to pull the manifold to install that kind of block heater. So what is my best option? The silicone heater pads heat up the oil. Is that enough? There are the ones I could...

XJ Grinding Noise - can't diagnose. (new info)

Some updates to this thread: https://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1159878 Since then, I have swapped out the left inner tie rod, and it ran great... until about 6 hours in and I slowed down and grind-grind-grind. So it is not: - driveshaft - u-joints - wheel bearings - left inner...

Tracking Fix After Tie Rod End Change

I just did my left outer and right inner tie rod ends (on the same tie rod). I was careful to mark the tie rods, but when I put the new ones on, my tracking is off. Specifically, one wheel is about 18 degrees off of straight when the other is straight. I can not make either tie rod end go in...

    Bumper Interchangability by Year?

I have a '92. I messed up the bumper. It is the older style with two Torx bolts on the bottom, and two in the front. I want to go to the JY and not pull off all the bumpers until I find one. So I'm hoping someone knows if newer ones (where there are two Torx bits on top and two on the...

    Grinding Noise - Can't Diagnose

Great vehicle. Recently did a Tranny filter and tranny cable change. Took it on a long drive. Made it fine, no problems, although running a little hot (it was hot out too). At the end of the drive I got into town, slowed down, and on slow left turns I heard a bad grinding sound, coming...

    Flat Towing with Stock Bumper?

I have a 1993 and I tried reinforcing the bumper to tow using this Harbor Freight tow bar: https://www.harborfreight.com/5000-lb-capacity-adjustable-tow-bar-61625.html The bumper came apart, at the torx screw that faces forward. I'm thinking of going to the JY for a later bumper that screws in...
