Yeah, there they are. I opened up the front and saw 427 on the pinion and shat myself. That can't be right, I thought. So I counted teeth. Front and rear rings both have 39 teeth, and pinions 11. So they are both 3.55's. Phew!

Thanks for the answers guys, much appreciate your time. Turns out I was a dumbass on this one. I pulled the truck into the garage and gave it one more check over before dropping the tranny. The rear u-joint was now obviously shot. Maybe it was under load before and appeared tight, I don't know...

Oh, I posted in the XJ forum because I'm pretty sure that's where the tranny came from, but I don't know for sure.
