I did think about that when this all first started so I took it to a different shop to check the work of the first and they said they were fine and suggested Tom Woods vs Adams driveshaft. I also figured I've got about 5000 miles on these gears and if they were wrong they would have blown by...
Speedo gear has been corrected for the current tire and gear setup and has been verified with a GPS. I'll double check the phasing (just to cover all my bases) then I will have it rebalanced if that's not it. If its not a balancing issue I am at a complete loss. The rear is a Tom Woods too and...
So consensus is that the rear needs to be lowered a bit but the front is fine, so maybe take this front drive shaft to a shop and see if its out of balance?
So I have a rhythmic drive line vibration above 70. It all started after swapping 4.56 gears. I currently have a long arm lift of 5.5", SYE, and a Ford 8.8. Everything ran smooth and silky until I got around to swapping in the new gears. I have since gone through 3 drive shafts trying to resolve...
So I took it back and they insist the damage was from a pipe wrench only. They must have gotten really aggressive with that wrench, oh well. They replace the seal and sent the drive shaft out and it was apparently quite a bit out of balance. I'll pick it up today and see if they at least fixed...
So I removed the front drive shaft and took her up to 80 MPH. The vibration (almost a buzz its such a high frequency) is a lot better, not completely gone but much better. I'm thinking maybe take the drive shaft in and see if it needs balancing. That would resolve some of the vibes but not all...
You know soon as I posted this I thought to myself looks like someone got a bit aggressive with a pipe wrench during install. So maybe not the cause of the vibration then? The pinion doesn't look seated in the seal so its either crooked or the seal is, either way the leak definitely needs to be...
So I got a weird issue that I wanted you experts to take a look at. I picked up the Jeep from getting gears installed 2 days ago and when driving home I noticed a pretty good vibration above 70 MPH that never used to be there. The shop was closed so couldn't call. I drove it today vibration is...
So I removed the mount, bent the frame back and welded it up. Ordered a new track bar mount, this time I will elongate the mounting holes so I can get all 4 bolts in along with a track bar brace I should be good this time. I had a feeling not putting in those bolts would come back and bite me...
So I installed frame stiffeners to my XJ which meant the stock track bar mounting bolts would no longer line up so I welded the mount to the new frame plates and called it a day. Well after some heavy wheeling the mount has bent and pulled apart the frame in the process. I'm thinking with a BFH...
