Coming up on April 27th 2024, there will be a trail cleanup day at Royal Blue OHV in Campbell County, TN.
This cleanup ride will be sponsored by the Campbell County litter control. The last cleanup ride we had was at Tackett Creek, and was sponsored by the Claiborne County litter control. They...
I heard about that today. Great news. I was supposed to go to the SFWDA’s event at Golden Mountain for several years, and was never able to make it. I’ll be out there to check it out once it opens.
The 50 is kind of a odd ball axle that isn’t very desirable. The 50 has a 9” ring gear, compared to a 60 that’s 9.75/10”, and there isn’t a ton of aftermarket support for them. It would be 8x170 too, and would be a good bit wider than your 8.8. I would advise saving your money and getting a 60...
My favorite upgrades I’ve done would be
#1 1 ton axles. The capability and strength is great and the road manners are really nice.
#2 Atlas tcase. For the lower range, but mainly front digs :D
Very likely that it is the rear differential. Sounds like pinion bearings. To be sure, best thing to do is put it on jack stands, and have someone run it up and get the noise to happen while you listen to it with a mechanics stethoscope. Also, check the pinion yoke for play and for a leak at the...
Very true. The humidity sucks. The first time I went to Moab, I truly understood what “dry heat” meant. I was like “there’s no way its 110 out here. It feels like 80 back home” then several hours later I was nearly dehydrated without even realizing it.
Definitely. I’m maybe 20 minutes from Oak Ridge. You’ll be right at Windrock! It’s in Oliver Springs, which is just a few minutes outside of Oak Ridge.
Welcome to the area. You may be hesitant about telling people around here that you’re from CA haha (kidding). There’s tons to do with a Jeep out here. I’m in the Knoxville area myself, right on the Anderson County line. We’re roughly 30 minutes from Windrock, Royal Blue, The Sandmines, 2 hours...
They’re not my favorite. I would do the single adjustable ones over the double adjustable. They’re just a pain to work with and not worth it, in my opinion. I’ve also been seeing a lot of issues with Metalcloak’s joints recently. They changed something about them a while back, and the new...
I actually did it backwards. I had assist before I ever did a brace. I never really felt like I needed it with assist, but I installed it as a "what if" part. The way I seen it was, if I ever lose engine power and need towed off a trail, I'd like to have it supporting the box.
