Ive been looking at this cause I really want a hand throttle for rock crawling. I was also going to use it on long trips to rest my leg. I expect it for xmas. But real cruise control is nice cause you can speed up and slow down with buttons!
Belts do stretch when they break in so you might have to tighten it again. I usually tighten alittle, put water on the belt, start the motor cold and check for squalling. start over until no more squalling.
I had similar issue when I replaced the clutch and resurfaced the flywheel. I didnt want to drop the trans again so I made alittle longer (~1/8-1/4") pushrod for the slave and it helped move the engagement spot away from the floor. If you drop the trans you can adjust the clutch fork pivot ball...
Oh course people are only going to post when they have issues. GF is at 215K on her 01 and no issues. Did have to replace the head gasket but its been awhile since then
I went local as well and saved quite a bit compared to Tom Woods, its the shipping that really gets you. Plus its good to know local driveline shops when you might need something fast
00-01 have LP d30's. I think the best year of cherokees is whatever year you get a great deal on, so 85-01 are all good. yea some may have better parts but the improvement in very minimal in the larger scope of things.
Ive never paid over $75 for 4.0L heads. Then again I havent tried to buy a 00-01 head, just replace head gaskets and run them. If you run out of options why not just get another 0331 head for cheap? It wont crack if you dont overheat
I finally made and installed my own wiring harness to go with my autopal H4's. Wow it was an improvement with night and day difference, literally . Just throwing H4's in was an improvement over stock but the harness made it great, stupid 18 gauge stock crap.
What is your plans for this? A healthy SBC350 will eat d44's and 8.8 if your sticking big tires on it, I know the terrain of WNC, lots of full throttle assaults at obstacles because of the mud on the rocks. I say do 1tons and 38-42's hehe
Oh yea, Audiovox was the company I was thinking about. Yea $150 is alittle pricey and went the junkyard route on my 95. Costed me like $50 or something
Like I said, my friend is car-stupid and i was drunk in the back with women so i was occupied. It was winter and he 'forgot' he left it in 4hi to get out of our neighborhood and hoped on the highway. But yes, 4hi on pavement is bad.
