Gearing/lack of power or speed question

Dang. Why did I have to read this post today? I'm on 33's with stock gearing and I was close to content with it. Thought about regearing "someday." Now I'm convinced that I'm not doing right by my baby unless I do it this weekend. I don't have the time (or money) for this!!

Current XJ Rear Tire Carrier Suggestions

Oooooooh man. I want that bumper so bad! Just hesitating to pull the trigger because I can't figure out how the quarter panel armor is going to work with my cut rear fenders. They make a version specifically to work with Bushwacker flares, but mine aren't Bushwacker, soooooo . . .

    Jam nut importance ..

Wait until one gets loose. They can make a lot of noise for something you wouldn't think would move at all. I had an adjustable lower control arm with a jam nut that loved to come loose from time to time (before I got a clue and finally added some lock-tite). Based on the noise it would...

    newbie lift question 2000 XJ

I second the UN-recommendation for Crown stuff. Lemme tell ya . . . got my Y2K XJ maybe three years ago. Rear leafs were shot. Wanted to lift it "a little" and ONLY "a little" because I had read too much internet forum stuff about "Slip Yoke Eliminators" and things that sounded scary...

    Cowl Intake suppliers?..

AWESOME. I want one. Bad. Question though . . . is that filter re-usable? If not, how does one go about replacing it. OH! And also, if you've installed it, can you notice any seat-of-your-pants improvements? An intake that brings in air that is actually cold is one of those things that's...

    Disc Brake Woes..

Where's the "like" button on this thing? So awesome when someone shows up with a weird problem and there's someone out there who's just like, "oh, yeah, just do blah, blah, and blah and you're all set." AND THEN IT WORKS. It's almost like that's the whole reason forums like this one exist...

Rear Seat Headrest Install for an OEM Look

Wow! That's very nice work!. I would have lliked to do this, but I just cheated and put the whole Grand Cherokee back seat(s) in instead. Love the way yours turned out though. So fresh. So clean.

    XJ Fender Flares

I've got 3.5 and a set of XJ-Max flares. I'm currently running 32's and they look a little small with all the room I've got. Next set will be 33's for sure. Don't think I'll need to be going any higher. VERY happy with where I'm at, thanks in no small part to these flares.

wanted to show off my hard work

When you apply for jobs you list "ability to think outside the box" as a strength, don't you? But daaaaaang, then having the skills to make those thoughts into reality . . . that's really, really, really cool!

Latest info on replacement 0331 head?

I just put one in that I got from a guy in my local Jeep club. It originally came from Advanced Auto as far as I have been able to tell (stamped with "DD" where the original "0331" would be). Can't say as I have a huge warm fuzzy feeling about it as it looks very similar to my old 0331...

valve noise and no oil on rocker

Just replaced my cracked head and got a misfire in 5, had almost identical symptoms, but damn . . . guess I got lucky. In my case it was just ONE bad lifter. everything else was fine. I spent the weekend being ticked off about having to pull it all apart again just to switch out one stupid...

    Yeah, soooo . . . Pretty sure I broke it. 2000 XJ - 0331 head replacement fallout

Just plain ol' "sealed power" or whatever from O'Reilly's and Auto Zone. The other 11 seem to be doing just fine so far.

    Yeah, soooo . . . Pretty sure I broke it. 2000 XJ - 0331 head replacement fallout

Yeah. It's the intake valve on the #5 cylinder. Took the valve cover off and that lifter/pushrod just isn't pumping anywhere near the amount of oil that the rest of them are. Fine-tuned the torque on the rocker bolts and that may have helped it a little (or placebo effect). Took longer to...

    Yeah, soooo . . . Pretty sure I broke it. 2000 XJ - 0331 head replacement fallout

Head was pre-assembled, and (thankfully) I'm pretty sure I've narrowed the problem down too. Checked it out without the valvue cover on last night and, while there IS oil flowing through both pushrods in #5, there is less coming through the one toward the cab (intake?). The valve springs...
