I will probally need to have a new tps sensor put in. Does it need to be installed by the dealer? But I dont think this is why i am blowing black smoke. I cant see the smoke in my rearview mirror but i was just wondering if there was anything i could do about or just forget about it. Thanks!

OK, My jeep is a 92 laredo with 3 inch lift and 31x10.5's. The motor (4.0 H.O) has 215,000 and runs fairly strong. The other day my buddy was driving behind me and said he could see black smoke come out of my tail pipe when the jeep was shifting. Why is that and is there anything i can do about...

i did put a wire through the engine compartment about a year ago and it stared leakin about 6 months ago so i will check that out. i also had the windshield replaced about 2.5 years ago..i will check all these ideas and let u know what happens.i thanks for all the great ideas!!

i havent done a compression check so i will do that when i get home this weekend and let you know. i am also thinkin about changin my oxygen sensor becasue i have no clue when it was changed last and i have had it for about 50,000 miles now and i dont think my dad ever changed when he had it...

i will get the gear in the next few days..i did notice a drop with 30's as well so we will see. she does have 200,000+ miles on it so that might have somethin to do with it.

when i was on the interstate i was watching the milemarkers and comparing it to my tripomoter and they both read the same. i will call jeep and get a new speedo gear and also lock out overdrive and see what happens. what about a throttle body spacer? could that possible help to?

i havent changed the speedo gear and being a kid in college i dont think i could afford to regear the differential, how much does that cost anways? i plan on going bigger in the future but not for a few years. i have the AW4 if that helps any and dana 35c in the rear. i will try the no overdrive...

I have 1992 xj with the 4.0 and with 199,000 miles on her. i noticed i was losing about a quart of oil every oil change but have no leaks and no blue smoke. I have Rustys air tube and K&N and i think i am experiencing blowby. I pull the hose off the front breaher and i see blue smoke comming out...

ALSO... when i got the lift put on i went and had my tired aligned and re balanced and that helped a great deal becasue the BFG's i have on tend to re cut themselves...just throwin another idea your way
