    What the heck Happend

i guess sarcasm really doesnt work on the computer. i was joking because it so clearly sounds like the alternator. how would wiper fluid or mirrors ever effect the battery charge? sorry for the confusion!

    What the heck Happend

I'm not convinced. He could be low on wiper fluid or the mirrors might just be out of adjustment. It's best practice to eliminate the easiest possibilities first before you spend money on potentially unnecessary parts.

    Ticking engine

i have heard a lot of people say that it's normal for a 4.0 to have ticks and i believe that they are strong enough that a tick is not typically indicative of immanent catastrophic failure, but a properly running 4.0 has no ticks, so a tick is not "normal". It would behoove you to located and...

Please help me or I will die!

it's from the name "sizzle-chest" which is just a dumb name to call someone. I used to use that name on jeepforum when i had my first xj, but after buying this latest jeep, i found that jeepforum is really crappy now and so i changed the name slightly and joined this forum, which is much better...

UPDATE 2: So, I replaced the O2 sensor and now it purs like a kitten! Well, there is a slight lifter tick that wasn't there before, but it's good enough for now. THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED ME OUT THROUGH THIS!!! Not that anyone really cares, but this xj has been a nightmare. I bought it 2...

Please help me or I will die!

UPDATE: Based on the idea that it couldn't hurt it (though I'm sure i could) I let it run for a while, actually drove it around the block and the white smoke cleared!!!! But now it dies if I let off the gas at idle. It cycles every 5 seconds or so, where it runs great for 5 seconds, struggles...

Please help me or I will die!

i don't understand the hill idea. the leak was not too bad. there was a crack in the head at cyl 3 so i replaced the head with a rebuilt one. i guess it was bad enough to cause a lot of white smoke. and besides the white smoke there is no indication that there is coolant in the cylinders now. i...

Please help me or I will die!

Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but I feel like I'm going to die. I just got finished putting my engine back together after finding a cracked head and it's still blowing white smoke! Compression test every cyl at 120. It struggles to stay at idle and dies if I don't give it gas constantly...

    Head gasket replacement ?

i'm in the middle of this right now, literally since i'm to the point of putting the gasket in and replacing the head. anyway, i read that if the bolts aren't already painted then they are okay for another use, but you should paint them so they aren't used again. some folks will argue that you...

    91-95, Cherokee Briarwood spotted

The Briarwood was designed and built exclusively for the Royal Windsor family. Only 8 were ever produced, with 5 known to still exist. In addition to the leather interior, the Briarwood featured a sold gold 4.0 engine, and a diamond encrusted steering wheel.

    Another head gasket question

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I was investigating the head for cracks and I noticed coolant in the intake valve housing of cyl 3. Is that a definite sign of a cracked head or could coolant be going back up into the housing from the cylinder? Thanks again for any help!

Few Different Questions (Radiator & Piston)

Thanks so much for the replies! I'm excited that I don't have to find a new heater valve, especially since my AC doesn't even work. I remember switching to an open radiator on my old xj and locating a replacement valve was difficult and I ended up going to a scrap yard. If only I would have...
