    Brake Line Replacement Help

FWIW, I know Im reviving an old thread but I thought some people might like the info. I just got off the phone with my local dealer and the hard brake lines for a 99 XJ are still available. Im ordering them today, he will have them tomorrow morning.

TRac Bar bolt on Axle end

lazyxj, you are correct, the Clayton bolt will only fit a Clayton HD Track Bar. I found these part numbers on another post, Bolt is 6505 549AA (I think it's just a 10x1.5) Nut is 6506 264AA. It sits in a small recessed area so you can't get a wrench or socket on it. I ordered both parts...

TRac Bar bolt on Axle end

Anyone know where to find a replacement nut for the bolt on the axle end of the trac bar. Mine broke when removing it and I would like to replce it with the OE part since it had a nice little metal tab on it to keep the nut from spinning when trying to remove the bolt.

    AC advice needed

Boy, that statement is in direct contradiction with the guys at ackits.com. They insist that they EXACT amount of refrigerant is critical and the system will not work and I might even destroy the compressor with even an oz too much or too little. Adjust up or down for altitude? I assume down...

    AC advice needed

Ecomike, Great help. Ive been over at ackits.com and I must of gotten off on the wrong foot because the only answer I can get is "there is no way to get the proper amount of refrigerant in the system without having professional equipment and scales available at a shop". So they are contradicting...

    AC advice needed

Thanks man thats very helpful. I have a couple more questions. If I just put one can in and am able to track the leak down what is the best DIY way ;) to get that refrigerant out of the system and the system completely empty so I ultimately can get close to the proper weight on R-134 in the...

    AC advice needed

I wasn't able to get below -28.5. Although, I left the guages on it and it has bbeen at 28.5 since saturday evening. So it doesn't seem to have a leak. I read in other forums that altitude affects the ability to get down to -30 and that for each 1000' above sealevel you loose about 1 in Hg. Do...

    AC advice needed

Its a '99. I meant R-134a refrigerant, not Freon. Ill tightent all the hoses and see if I can get down to -30. If I can't get down to -30 should I just put some R-134 with dye in it to try and find the leak or should I just tear it apart and replace all the seals, quick connect fittings, etc...?

    AC advice needed

How do I know when it is full. Should I just estimate bsed on the label on the shroud and the fact that each can is 12oz by weight?

    AC advice needed

I was going to rebuild my AC so I ordered an o-ring kit and accumulator. I also got a vacuum pump, flush kit and manifold gauges from Autozone. The compressor was unplugged when I got the XJ so I assumed it might be bad. Last night I hooked up the manifold gauges and there was no pressure in...

    99 cranks but won't start

I think it is the check valve. Im going to just run with it for awhile and see if it gets worse. Thanks for all the info. Part of the reason I like Jeeps is because of the great websites and info on the net to troubleshoot and repair them. And of course, the websites are no better then the...

    99 cranks but won't start

Just now getting back to a computer. Thanks for the replies. As it turns out apparently I was just impatient with the ignition key. I tried again later that day, ruen the ignition on and sat there for a few secs, at least until the fuel pump shut off, and then tried to crank it and it started...

    99 cranks but won't start

The ground wires by the coils were covered in oil when I was changing the coil. Could it be as simple as a bad connection at that ground point?

    99 cranks but won't start

I did some searching but didn't find any concrete answers. I bought a '99 XJ about 30 days ago. 135,000 miles, 4.0L Automatic, 4WD. It ran good when I bought it. I drove it over 90 miles to get it home with no problems. Out of habit I wanted to do a tune up, change fluids, etc... I changed...

Defeated by Valve Cover? Kind of...any ideas?

The FelPro gasket at Napa (http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?A=FPGVS50458R_0147108918&An=599001+101999+50038+2038004#) has grommets. Where do the grommets go? I just got a '99 and I starting to chase down leaks so Im going to start at the top with the valve cover. There is a lot...
