Isn't what your calling a 12 bolt a semi-floating 14 bolt? I have the axles out of an 86 3/4 ton it had a 10 bolt front and sf 14 bolt rear.

If you choose to go the 6.0L Chevy route make sure it has 4.10 gears. The earlier model's had 3.73's and didn't pull that good. That might explain my the one guy who posted above gets poor mileage with his.

Have you seen the sticker price for a colorado/canyon with a 5.3? Might as well go fullsize imo.

It adds lift because of its thickness. Its like 3/4" thick.

Look through an industrial supply catalog. There was a Morse set 1/16 - 1/2 by 16ths set that my students used that we had good luck with. I believe they were HSS and surface treated.
