    Transmission ID

Cool, thanks!! Are they terribly expensive to rebuild?? I had the 909 re-did in my 86 wagoneer limited (2.8)-I pulled it-and it was $700-I was hoping a manual would somehow be cheaper....grinding when I try to downshift-syncros are going as best I can figure-any experience out there with fixing...

    Transmission ID

Could anyone tell me how to ID the 5-spd in my Cherokee?? (4.0-1992) It has 9 large ribs on the drivers side of the case and a serial number starting with 204.... on the bottom-it's whining like crazy and I'll need to rebuild it shortly. I can't tell if it's an AX-15 or AX-5. Thanks to all...

    4.0 Oil Filter Adapter

Yuccaman, mine's a '92 and I had plenty of room to get a wrench or ratchet on it, taking care to stay clear of the starter...... If you have the machining skills, it would be a cool piece to replicate. O-rings appeared to be the same as the rest, drilled out from the engine side with 2 holes for...

Changed the adapter-to-block o-ring last night-had my torx t-60 bit and was ready to go......and sweating....imagine my surprise when I discovered the adapter bolt had a 5/8's standard head on it-took it off with a ratchet-cleaned everything up and was done including an oil change in about a...

    Oil Consumption

Yep, me again..... My 1992 Cherokee Sport goes thru oil like ***** thru a goose!!! To date, I haven't found any obvious leaks and it doesn't appear to be burning.....could the converter be hiding the smoke?? Anyone else have unexplained leaks??? Any of you great folks ever served onboard USS...
