I have the exact same issue.....mine is a 2K.
Mine is even more intermittant, I may go 6 months with no problems. Then all of a sudden I get the 3&4 cylinder misfire code.....now I know what to start looking at. Good info.....
Here is what I am planning on ordering.....according to my research this is all I'd need to bump up to 4.88.
Going to hold off on any Locker or Posi upgrade for now.....am I missing anything?
Spoke to the mechanic today and his high estimate is $400-$500 per axle...
Going to get some pricing on 4.88's today, found a local shop so no need to make the drive to Fredricksburg.
I'll post the estimate at some point today just to get an idea if it's fair....been looking into Electronic Lockers and some Posi systems. I don't really see the need for full Lockers...

Recently lifted, and running 33's.....I've noticed a big difference, and I'm not liking it.
I am going to re-gear..question is (and I've searched)..... D30/8.25
I understand 4.56 will get me close to stock, but I'm thinking the Nitro 4.88's are the way to go.

No SYE....Only theTransfer Drop that came with the lift....
Other then riding higher, and having to jump a bit to get into the thing now...I've had no issues at all.....I can drive down the road with one finger on the steering wheel.
No vibes, no funny noises at all....
Well she's done...I'm very happy with the way the Jeep turned out. The only rubbing is at full lock, and it is very minor.
The front flares had to have a very small notch trimmed near the front bottom, the shop did an excellent job and unless you are right on top of it looking for it you can't...
