    No licence needed for SSB. I don't have a lot of experiece using SSB. But, it is my understanding that it is best used as a 'beyond horizon' radio. lots of good info on simonthewizzard and cbradiomagazine websites. Simon is in Europe where they have better radios. But, his info is still good.

    Autozone Gold battery. As long as you don't plan on flipping over and spilling battery acid. AZ has a good warranty and they have stores everywhere. As soon as the battery starts acting up, just go to the store and they will put in a new one for you. Batteries rarely last me longer than 3...

    HELP! Just Bought an XJ - Overheating Issues

    If it is overheating at high speeds, it may be the water pump. The impeller will erode over time and it is probably cavitating at higher engine speeds. Pumps are cheap and you might as well pump, flush, fluid, new belt, plugs, fluids...

    Thanks for the info! I had a nightmare with a French-5 on a CJ7 (replaced with t18) and I had some fear about buying a 97 XJ with a AX15 before learning the difference here. I would much rather find a stockish xj with a ax15. But, they don't come arround every day.

    You probably are already on the right track with a flush. Don't forget to flush out the heater core. Also, exhaust back pressure can cause engine temp to creep up. Sometimes a cat converter can get plugged up and cause this. I haven't tired this, but I know there are those that swear by...
