answered my own question NO they are not the same

8.8 ford axle is an easy conversion as well. Also try to get a 4.0 thats fuel injected instead of the 4.2

I have an 89 mj with a 2.5 and was wondering if a 4.0 power steering pump will work? pulley offset?,bolt pattern?, The local junkyard has alot of 4.0 motors but no 2.5s. Thanks for any info

Ive got a detroit gearless in my my mj that I drive back and forth to work and it does very well. would be alot better if I had a disconnect front axle

looks pretty similar to the one I built except I put a stinger on mine

This also depends on how wide of a tire you plan on running. If you are going to run 12.50 wide tires on a 8 inch rim you need 3.5 inch backspacing or less so they dont rub on your lower links

I cant find one on my 89. but it will start once in a while and i havent even touched it!I'll try and start it and it wont start then an hour later i'll try to start it and it will start ???????

well I cant even find it .Its obvoiusly been removed already but ,it did start until i moved it and then it died again. Maybe a ground or something?

I have an 89 mj that sounds like the fuel pump is not priming and i'm not getting any fire. I changed the fuel pump relay and it started and ran for about 10 minutes then died.I changed the relays again but it won't start. I am no electrical wiz and I need some help. Thanks guy's!:piratefla
