i dont know about the older ones, but on my '00, the motor and gearbox are in a sealed, riveted unit. for the 75 dollars for the core charge, i wasnt about to tear into it.

flintlock - your problem is indeed your window lock switch. they are cheaply made and are known to fail, if passenger windows arent working, just play with the button a few times and they might come back. eventually it might go on ya, an easy fix is to just bypass the switch alltogether.

watch for the famous cracked cylinder head, i've got a 2000, and suffered from that fate. get a warranty if ya can!
