look at stock XJ leaves then look at a stock truck's leaves. The xj's are thin and not very many leaves. the trucks are usually bigger and have a lot more leaves at different lengths. you will see why the xj's leaves are more prone to axle wrap.

Synthetics are too thin to stay in the engine. Untrue. In order for a lubricant to be classified in any SAE grade (10W-30, 10W-40, etc.) it has to meet certain guidelines with regard to viscosity ("thickness"). For example, it makes no difference whether it's 10W-40 petroleum or 10W-40...

switching to dino oil will NOT help you now. a quick fix now would be to replace your seals and gaskets. syn cleans out all the sludge that allowed your seals to dry out. synthetic oil is ok to put in a low mileage engine or a rebuilt with newer seals.

Go get a new tumbler/key from auto parts store for about $12.00. you can also rent the steering wheel puller there too. It's not very difficult or time consuming to just change it out. The same happened to my 90 xj.
