    '97 AW4 issues.....

    Just a guess--- ????Wrong ATF ???? ???Try a Poorboy flush with DEX 3(For Sure Dex3)???? Good Luck, Orange ( probably a used trans is best answer.) ----------------- Trans takes 20 min run to full warmup BUT with no fluid probably toasted some plastic parts or ?. 10 min is hot!

    HeadLight Reminder Buzzer???

    -Get a Factory FSM - ONLY!!!- -Make note that the 96 IS different than a 95 or 97. so.. ---Only a 96 FSM.--- 'Tech Authority' is the real thing for a brand new one, or 'the bay'. Posible the buzzer is a plug in on the fuse panel near left fool of driver. Good Luck, Orange

    Scroll to the bottom of this page to -similar threads- 1 early 96 and 1 late 96, both have gauge sensor at back of head. Your mopar # is the right one 1-56027012.

    Dirt has free access into the CRT, Coolant Reservoir Tank thru the open vent. Take about a 1 inch cube of foam rubber, test you can blow air thru it, then stuff it into the CRT vent.     Rear Swaybar Broke

    Factory 96 "up country" (mild lift etc) with tow package came without a rear swaybar. Suspect a rear swaybar is not a whole lot of help on towing and the other stuff has more effect, but shouldn't hurt towing. Good Luck, Orange

    Caution: The 231 xfer case is for "dirt" only. Bad no-no to run 4 wheel on pavement. Use a handheld multimeter to check that each fuse is getting and passing 12 volts. Under hood and inside. Good Luck, Orange

    Odd antenna problem (FYI)

    Same setup on 96. AM/FM - reception weak on one band and none on other. One screw- kick panel - repair- replace = AHaaaa tunes again! The springloaded connector - What were they thinking??? Does not make any sense at all.

    OP-Year, etc. ??????? If you are running over about 210*f Your XJ IS OVERHEATING!!! Normal is 195-210. continous bubbles is BAD, BAD- could be cyl. head, block, head gasket, etc. etc. REALLY, REALLY NEED TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND FIX IT, PRONTO!!!

    ---"Open" system, NOT older system--- When the system cools down those leaks can let air INTO the top of the engine. Which "kills" the burp and reduces cooling at top of cyl head and overheats. Fix any leak in cooling system ASAP. Clue- overnite cooldown -level in Coolant Reserve Tank...
