2006 5.3L 1500, rebuilt trans, heavy duty torque convertor, leveling kit and bigger tires. 9-15 mpg towing depending on how fast I want to get there.
1998 V10 2500, 37's in this pic and geared. 9-11 mpg all day no matter what.
Try and find someone local. Around me at least, 8.25's go for $100-200 depending on condition, and D44's go for $250-300 depending. If anything I would find a 31 spline 8.8 out of an Explorer. Especially if you can get your hands on one with disc brakes and a LSD.
Might want to include your model year since 84-96 are different then 97+. Also, check ebay, you will find new ones the cheapest on there from some Jeep dealers online. That is where I got my new one from when I cracked mine.
