the heat on my 86 was sucking eggs this winter. It turns out there's a little vacuum operated valve on the hose leading to the heater core that had ceased operating. I removed it, problem solved. Good luck, a hot jeep makes all the difference in the winter!

argh. I had a similar problem, no heater fan. Fortunately, it's a a pretty easy repair on my 86 XJ. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem, the blower motor is fine. That means something else has fried(literally, blue smoke). Any ideas? It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too cold to be driving...

Indeed it does. When I first start it, it sits at the recommended 700 rpm, and after about 10 or 15 minutes, it's found it's way to 1500 or so. Has anyone had any success swapping the Varajet out for something a little more user friendly? I'd be pleased as punch to plonk a holley 2bbl on there...
