    Spring perches XJ and YJ

Short answer: No Long answer: The distance between the springs is different. Not to mention, YJ is spring under stock, and an XJ is spring over stock

    Gauge cluster swap

Oil pressure sender and temp sender are "on/off" switches for the idiot light cluster (think about it, it just needs to turn the light on below a certain oil pressure or above a certain temp). You'll have to swap those two to make the new cluster work right. It's not going to burn anything up...

    blend door location???

If the motor is bad, pull the three screws and slide it off the bottom of the blend door. You can then use a pair of pliers to rotate the blend door to the "hot" (I forget which direction, so try it with the engine running and warmed up and feel for heat or cold coming from vents). On mine...

8.8 rear end question: What's missing?

Pass. The bearing caps being strewn on the ground is the straw that broke the camels back. If the caps were on and you could tell they hadn't been moved around, then it might be worth it. And yes, it DOES matter... anyone who was installing a locker for me (trick question, I install my own)...

    oil soaked air rilter

Yes, replace the grommet and the vac line from the rear of the valve cover to the intake manifold. If the grommet is clogged, or someone has done away with the vac line to the intake, the front will spew oil out and soak the air filter. The rear needs vacuum so it can suck fresh air in through...

Convert 2001 D30 to 5x5.5 with JK hubs?

What are you trying to accomplish? The JK is 5 on 5, an 8.8 out of an explorer is still 5 on 4.5, and an 8.8 out of an F-150 or bronco is 5 on 5.5 and wider than the cherokee axles (or explorer 8.8).

    Adapt it USA wheel adapter

I helped a friend install these on a TJ so he could run some bling 6 lug rims he got a smokin deal on. He drives his jeep on the street mostly, with some dirt roads and easy trails now and then. He hasn't had any problems with them, but I would not personally install them on my rig cause I'm...

Howling At The Moon - 4.88's in 8.25" rear axle

They shouldn't be any louder than stock gears... the problem could be any number of things, bad install, didn't get a bearing seated all the way, poor quality/defective gear set, they might quiet down after a few hundred miles, who knows. Lucky for you, the solution is easy... take it back to...

    ideal caster angle

5 to 7 degrees, with 7 being on the more desireable end of the scale IMO. Unless you're lifting over 6" you should be able to get somewhere in that range and still have an acceptable pinion angle without cutting and turning the C's or using offset ball joints on an high pinion D30. Low pinion...

Ground strap on head to firewall

Don't run it straight to the battery. Run it to the firewall, just make sure your connection at the firewall is good and clean (scrape rust/paint off where the ground wire makes contact). The block itself is grounded to the body and then the body to the battery via a stud in the passenger side...

Anyone run toyota Axles under their XJ?

This is not quite accurate... MOST 2wd Toyota rear axles you will find that are 5 on 4.5 are 27 spline 7.5" ring gear models. The 4wd 6 lug rear axles are 30 spline 8" ring gear models, which is why they are popular and strong. There are SOME 4.5" rear Toyota axles that are 30 spline and...

AW4 to AX15 swap: my attempt

First off, do yourself a favor and do it right with an external slave. Find a 94+ bellhousing and input bearing retainer and swap them onto the trans you have. The first time an internal throwout bearing/internal slave goes out (and they do, trust me) you'll be kicking yourself for going the...

    89 kickdown cable install question

To change the cable, you have to unbolt the dipstick, pull the pan off the trans, I THINK remove the transmission filter (I can't remember, you may not need to pull the filter, I just went ahead and replaced it while I was there). The cable is held in with a small bolt on the driver's side, I...

    91 HO Valve cover Elbows

Uhh... yes, adrnalinlovr, the front inlet DOES let fresh air in... that's why it's open and hooked to the air box from the factory. The rear hose is hooked to the intake manifold and pulls a small vacuum through the 2mm or so orifice on the whole system in order to take care of crank case...

    91 HO Valve cover Elbows

What part number did they give you? On the Renix XJ's, Dorman sells a new grommet and tube kit, and the orificie is actually in the tube end rather than the grommet. Install this on my 89 MJ and it works fine. Post some pics or part numbers of what you have.
