That's why I'm going to cut and reweld perches eventually. It's funny because when I was at 5.5" with 33s I was running stock, no angle adjustments and No vibrations. But as soon as I added on a few more inches vibes everywhere. It was not too bad with just the SYE (that in and out humming...
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check the out. I see what you mean by having a nice shifter, its a Hurst. I wish I didn't have to use the t-case drop, but its the last thing I added to stop vibration. I also have 6 degree shims and an SYE. Eventually I'll cut and re-weld perches on the...
couldn't find this...
93, Trans. AX-15 manual.
When I'm wheeling and going down a steep slope 2nd gear loves to pop out (very annoying). Going up a slope isn't a problem. It's almost like it "falls out"
My guess is its because of my 1" t-case drop. Anyone else had this? What did you do...
not yet, I'll try that also. I found my bell-housing bolts are really loose, one is missing. This would make sense why it only happens in reverse and at high speeds. CPS is not reading correctly. I'll update once I get those bolts in, I think that's the problem.
Thanks for the help so far.
Fluid is full, that's what I though it might be as well. Aslo found something else. When I press down on the transmission dip stick the engine starts to click. Any ideas?
Its an '87 with an '89 engine (4.0 I6), auto 242. It will move in reverse but not very fast, even when floored, engine studders or bogs. In Drive, it drives fine until about 55MPH then does the same thing. Almost like it hits the speed govn. over and over again.
Replaced:
fuel filter
cap...
I got one. its a 1987 black 4dr limited with a 1989 engine. The engine has about 135,000 miles on it, runs strong. The paint job is nice. it could use some brake shoes/pads and radio. I also just bought new brake hardware too. I have pics if you want. Got me back and forth and around...
You most likely will need something. I have not seen any of the newer models run lifts w/o vibes. I ran close to 5.5" w/o vibes on a 93 2 door. But as soon as I went to 8", I needed shims, SYE, and t-case drop. It would have been easier to cut and re-weld the spring perches. For 3.5" just a...
just do some fender cutting, you'll be fine. Seriously though, even with 2" you will rub. I put a 3" superlift on my buddies XJ and 31s, they still rubbed a bit. Turning will be your main concern.
ok, thanks for the suggestion it got me to look a little closer at the arm to the t-case. Turns out the nut that holds the arm on was loose, most likely from when I did the SYE. I guess the added angle from the drop caused it not to fully engage. All gears work now, driveline vibes finally...
The following is referring to the np231 t-case on a 93 2door.
I just put a t-case 1" drop on to help with some vibes. I can shift into 2wd, however it seems to not be fully engaged (clicking/grinding upon movement).
4wdH, N, and 4low seem to work fine. I have tried adjusting the...
I just added some shims on my 8", went with a 6* shim, and still have some vibes (greatly reduced), I think I may add on a t-case drop.
*=degree
Shims are not too bad, and if you are doing shackles with them that will help as well for about 1* or so. Before doing this I would suggest going to...
Just got back from Camp Hale, it rained about 90% of the time so we only got in one good day of 4X. I ended up having to fix more peples rigs than anything. As soon as we started out some one broke something. I got to learn the components of an IFS (Nissan), and I am glad XJs don't have...
