Trying to pull my 4.0L out of my 1987 XJ. Trying to remove all mounting bolts between engine and tranny (AUTO). Having problems getting to all of them.
Any suggestions on how to remove this engine?
Thanks - Tim
Bringing this topic back to the top.....My '87 engine needs rebuilt or replaced. I can not afford to rebuild. I found an engine from a '96 for $200.00. Reading through this thread gives me hope. My question is Can I use the same wiring in the '87? If I am using the '87 intake and all the '87...
I have a 1987 XJ with 4.0L engine. The harmonic balancer is bad (rubber slipping out) and needs replaced.
My question: How hard, what is involved in replacing one? Any and all advice would be great.

Just a quick question about the ccv tube. The tube a gromet is metered for a specific size opening. Why wouldn't a larger opening tube work....better? Not talking 1/2 inch tubing but a little bigger. I am just un clear of the physics of the system I guess.
I am in need of a drivers seatbelt for a 1987 XJ.
Haven't been able to find a used one anywhere.
Any suggestions for an alternative. Need to get one, my teenage gets his license soon and will be driving it. Want him safe.
Thanks - Tim
