    Not having been around too many XJ's with winch bumpers, I don't think it sticks out too far at all. There is one around here that has a bumper that mounts the winch on top and it sticks out every bit as far. It does look flat though. That might change after I've done the grille guard.

    1999 Cherokee

    Definitely check your battery connections. My '99 was doing weird things, lights getting dim and bright, wheezing out and dieing when I came to stops, then wouldn't idle correctly. I checked my voltmeter and it was pegged off the top of the guage. Wound up being a loose battery cable.

    You CAN get the panel loose enough to reach in with the gate closed. I had to do it on my '98. I'm going to fix my '99 before it gets to that point.

    I would also NOT recommend just replacing the one blown shock. I would replace both of that type of shock as a pair. Even if you got the exact same shock, you are putting an old shock on one side and a new shock on the other. The old shock won't dampen the same as the new one and may cause it to...
