    92 XJ ECU connector

Thanks Rob I wonder how common a failure the ECU connector is. I'm betting that the majority of bad ECU are actually bad connectors that start working again when the connector is reseating to he "new" ECU.

    92 XJ ECU connector

I have a 92 XJ with about 250k miles. Auto, 4wd, 4.0L. The engine has been shutting off at random. At first I shot gunned ALL the sensors, checked all the grounds replaced the distributor, ... Pretty much everything everything I could find in any thread talking about this type of issue. It...

    SnapOn MT2500 Scan Tool

All I'm thinking about getting an old MT2500 for my 92 XJ. Does anyone have one of these? I have a few questions. I think I need the Chry-1 cable and primary cartridge that covers a 92 jeep. Do I need a personality key and what do they do? What does a Diag cartrige do for me? Do I need one...

    Millage (again)

I replaced the IAC about 6 months ago. How often do they need to be cleaned? Thanks for the idea of getting a BT OBDII but my 92 is an OBDI so it won't help. I've thought about getting an old SnapOn scanner. It's a little hard to decipher exactly what I would need to buy but maybe I'll just...

    Millage (again)

It does Ok on the smog test. I keep thinking about getting a scanner but every time I go looking for one I get bogged down trying to figure out what to buy. Do you have any suggestions? Marc

    Millage (again)

Perhaps you're right. The rig has 130k miles on it which doesn't seem too high. I've got a Toyota with 200k on it that still gets 35 MPG but maybe the jeeps older engine design suffers more with age. To me it seems more like a sensor causing the computer to run the engine rich. I pulled a...

    Millage (again)

Thanks for the idea. the computer threw a code so I replaced the O2 about a months ago. It was an AutoZone special but it fixed the code. Maybe I should test it anyway. Marc

    Millage (again)

My 92 XJ is the greatest motor vehicle ever crafted by the hand of man. But at the risk of starting the great millage debate again... The millage kinda sucks. I get 12.5 MPG combined city / hwy. The speedo is calibrated. It's all stock except for: 3" spring lift 30" tires SYE Neon injectors...

Why I won't be doing any wheeling this year.

You know; I love seeing all the stuff you guys come up with. But at some point I start to wonder why you start with a XJ at all and don't build from scratch. I mean, honestly, stand back and see what you've done to that fine piece of american engineering. Cut it to shreds. And what did it...

LOUD Rear Vibration or Hum disappears with rear Drive shaft removed

Ok, I know this is a long shot but it free and easy to test. What about some kind of weird tire separation problem. Try swapping the front and rear tires. Marc

Rugged Ridge SYE install review 92 XJ

Just thought I'd give a quick update. I've had the RR kit installed for 5 months now. I drive the jeep 3-5 times a week, not much trail time. So far the RR is holding up fine and the front drive shaft moved to the rear is working well. Marc

    1990 electric fan diode?

If you need to test a diode with an ohm meter, make sure you are in the diode test mode. There will usually be diode schematic symbol on the meter mode switch. In diode test mode the meter provides a bit of voltage (about 1.5) for the test (called bias voltage). With out bias voltage it will...

    Code reader for 92 XJ

Thanks guys. I thought I read somewhere that the 92-96 Chrysler tool could do quite a bit like read the input from sensors and exerciser servos and what not. maybe I confusing it with the earlier Renix system. Thanks Marc

    No spark sometimes. 92 XJ

All I have a 92 XJ that fails to start from time to time. It cranks well but dosn't catch. It will do this 2 or 3 times and then it starts. When it won't start there is no spark from the coil. Once it does start, it runs well. It's hard to diagnose because it happens very seldom. The only...
