I have 32x11.50 BFG MT's on my 3 in. lift and a lot of trimming and no flares. It works well with no rubbing. I have 15x8 in. rims with 3.75 backspacing. The black steelies seem to be a good rim.
Are you going to use a locker? If you keep it open and arent a lead foot, like these guys said, they are surprisingly strong, for what they are. With that said, remember what it is: D30 and dont try runnin frigging 49 in irocs.
Sounds gay, but E-bay motors worked for me. A dude in Pa had one from an 87 XJ. most of them are from 87 XJ's. Most of them seem to have 3.54 or 3.07:1 gearing. If you are lucky the lsd will be old and toast so you can buy a good locker for it. Mine was an open diff. Not anymore.
The missionary position is the easiest way to mount the rack. Seriously though, I have mine mounted to factory rails. Like they said personal preferance. Gutters are stronger.
