My 2000 XJ just started to make a rather loud knock and has low oil pressure. Any idea's on rebuilding???? Stock cam, stock oil pump or other mod's while the engine is out. Any shops in Indianapolis IN area to use or stay away from. Been 20 years ++ since my last engine rebuild on a small block...

Kind of a common problem. Original bolts that have Torx head a soft bolt and break. When mine broke I drilled them out and used an easy out. Soak the bolts with penetrating oil and they should come out.... May want to modify your engine mount and pick up additional bolt holes that are around...

Just replaced the one on my 1989 after 200K miles.

Does anyone know if power door and crank up doors can be converted from one style to another? 94 model 4 door XJ. Looking to convert non power window door to a power window door.

Input shaft spline needs to be the same, early XJ's have different spline count.

Tried another good battery and still no start. Test ignition coil and checked good, swapped with my 94 and the coil if fine. Still no start. Checked compresion and the all low 25 to 55 psi and go up about 5 psi with after adding oil to the cyl. Any other ideas...... 96 jeep was bought...

Thanks, Bought dirt cheap for the body 102,000 miles - was overheating before. It's been sitting for about a year, 1/2 tank of gas so its likely got water in it. Plus are gapped correctly. Tonight I tried a "splash" of gas on the throttle body butterfly and it spuddered on two or three cylinders...

No start - 1996 Thanks WagonMan, yea have not thrown any parts at it. Pulled the plugs and all cylinders are firing, and have compression. Cleaned the connections on the CPS. Going to get clean the plugs, do compression ck, and try again with new can of starting fluid. The fuel rail does...

96 6 cyl 4.0 Auto Cranks over but will not fire up. Tried some starting fluid and no change. Pulled a spark plug and it do have a weak "orange colored" spark. Any quick ideas to try!

Thanks guy's! I searched on http://car-part.com/ and see the intake cyl head, and throttle body is different. but dist and exhaust manifold is the same..... I've got a good drive trail from a 95 with rusted out body and ran across a 96 with a blown engine......... Any other snags you can...

Does any one know what changed from 95 to 96 on the 4.0 six cylinder engine? Are they interchangable, what issues would I have in dropping a 95 engine into a 96 XJ Body?

88XJ???? Check the white resitor on the left fender near the radiator support. Either bad resistor or wire fell off.

Thanks a million guy's. Over the weekend swapped a running renix in to my 89 XJ, which was running but using oil loke crazy. Cranks and starts then dies. logged into NAXJA and found this... double chancked the resistor and found the terminal just barely touching, reconnected and purrs just...
