Happened to mine as well. I drilled out the bolts and ran 1/4"-20 bolts through to hold my dirtbound battery tray.

Third eraser wheel, took all the pinstriping off the jeep and left the paint intact in less then 15 mins.

I bridged the AC pressure switch, no fan. Bridged the temp sender, no fan. Took the ECM connector off and ran 12v through pin 31(output for relay coil), no fan. Grounded the OBD1 blue/white stripe wire, Fan came on... Idk what is going on, it makes sense but why would the ground for the fan...

I have a 91 as well and i have a group 58 battery, Duracell from batteries plus with 580CCA and it turns the engine over faster then any other xj I've seen. Helps I have 3/0 grounds and 1 gauge starter power wire though! It fits with out modification.

Good idea, ill check the ECM output today. Do you know if the output from the ecm is a 5 or 12v signal to turn the relay on? I attempted bridging the AC pressure switch but it did not make the fan come on. Is the ECM switching the relay through grounding or positive voltage? I think I read it...

Well before I dropped the valve body I noticed this! The primary slector valve?(I don't know what its formally called) was not in position with the selector which is why it wouldn't go into 1/2, it was basically stuck there. I dropped the valve body enough to get the selector pin in the valve...

Thanks for the response. Yeah I guess I don't have anything to lose! I don't know what I'm looking at when I drop the valve body but ill do some research on that. I'll check out the year split on the transmissions before I pull one. I believe 91-96 were compatible but ill double check!
